DANG. DRAT. PHOOEY.

If I could give one piece of advice to any stitcher, it would be this:

Write. It. All. Down.

When you start a project, take a piece of paper and a pencil and write down the name and designer and the fabric and then every single thread you are using on said project.

Why?

Because when you get in some crazy tizzy fit of cleaning and you de-kit your project and then pick it up ten years later and decide to finally finish it, you won't have to spend the entire first half of the Notre Dame/USC game stitching and un-stitching eleventy seven different threads that just don't quite work.

Dang it anyway.

I'm going to bed.

  1. The Primitive Stitcher on Flosstube is selling her own homemade journals in which you can keep track of everything you do. She has a Facebook selling page. I plan to get one the next time she sells, I love her videos. That could help you. Great game tonight.

  3. One of those good old marble composition books works really well for a stitching journal.

  4. everyone does that. Now when I borrow a thread I put it in a floss bag and write the name of the original project on the bag

  5. I learned this the hard way too-soooo many WIPS, knitting, crochet, cross stitch. I use an old school note book (for each craft) and write down everything. I also add the start date for each project to keep me honest. Sometimes there is a finish date too.

  6. Rats rats rats rats rats. That said, I'm curious as you why you would have de-kitted a project that you hadn't completed. Perhaps that's what you need to change: stop de-kitting.

  7. There is a website called Stitchingly where you can keep all that info in one place so you don't lose the paper :) And it looks lovely by the way.
