DEAR SPAMMERS...

I write this here blog for several reasons...not the least of which is that I am a hermit spinster with social anxiety issues who still loves to have relationships with people, as long as I can have them from the comfort of my Happy Chair and when I am feeling well enough to do so.

I read the comments on this here blog as though they are replies in a conversation. In my mind, the comment is coming from one of my friends who loves and knows me for the nutball I am, and we've met in a lovely coffee/tea shop someplace in our pajamas and we're chatting the day away with our needlework.

Some of these conversations are very serious and personal...like when I reveal my big fat soft white underbelly and my friends rally around with love and support and encouragement and advice. Other times the talk is more lighthearted, and I get giggles and eye rolls at whatever shenanagins I've been up to.

Our table on this here blog is large and accomodates absolutely everybody who wants to sit for a moment and join in the fun. We don't discriminate on the basis of anything at all, really, and if you don't stitch or knit or draw or twiddle your thumbs...that's OK. We'll teach you.

But.

For the love of St Sebastian, if your only purpose in coming here is to spam our comment section, could you just move on, please? I'm very certain that nobody here wants your herpes, HIV, digestive, fertility, or mental health cures from Dr Voodoo or Dr So and So or anybody else for that matter.

As Jack Nicholas says in "As Good As It Gets"...We're all full of the crazy here. Go sell it someplace else.

  1. Very well said Coni.
Why can't people just enjoy what they have. They need to start their own blog and then they can post what they want.

  3. I often wish for a James Bond type ejection seat button that I can push and these idiots will be ejected from the planet. (getting mean in my old age) With all of these people out there trying to con me out of my money, I sometimes feel like a fish in a barrel trying to dodge someone shooting at me. sheesh!

  5. Love how you look at your blog and the comments and I feel the same way. Keep those fingers typing and sewing and ignore all the "nuts" out there.

  6. Sometimes I think spammers are going to destroy the internet. They, graffiti "artists" and vandals are why we can't have nice things!

  7. Well said! Reading your blog IS like sitting with a friend, having my cup of coffee, chatting about stitching, and discussing our shortcomings. Except I'm pretty quite and you do the talking. Your wit is so appreciated. Patty McDonald

  8. Excellent way to put the problem in its place! I love reading your blog and do feel like we are just "talking" together. Ignore those who have so little going on in their lives that all they can think of is to try to sell their pathetic wares! You just continue being you and we'll continue sending you our love!

  9. Sometimes the only reason I log on to my blog app is to see what you’ve been up to. Even though I rarely comment, I still feel like we’re sitting around, drinking tea (sorry, can’t get on board with your coffee 😉), and you’re filling me in on your day. So, thank you for your (albeit one-sided) friendship. 🙂

  10. You said it, Coni! Spammers try to drive us crazy, but we're not going to let them!

  11. Well said, but those spammers are almost certainly software bots that scan the internet for blogs that accept comments and key words with a remote connection to whatever scam it is they are promoting. In your case, you sometimes post about your health, so they post scams that attempt to prey on those with health problems. Please just post whatever you choose to post and know that we know you are not the predator.

  13. Love it. When my in-box is inundated with these endless finger jabbing moron spams I just think how you have to deal with it - looking forward to a nice message and all you get is that foreign entity just clicking away. They won't drive us away and we aren't stupid enough to click on their links, but delete delete delete them. Chin up everyone - sewing rocks.xxxx

  18. And while they're at it, they can quit cluttering up my email their ransom virus laden phishing spam emails for those same things. Jerks! Even if they are bots - there's still humans behind them somewhere! Harumph. Sadly, there are enough people gullible (stupid?) enough to make it pay for all that crap to continue.

  22. They have been quite relentless on you lately haven't they? But they really make me feel good at the end of the day when I can quickly delete 400 emails :D I feel like I am doing some serious email decluttering.

  23. Coni, I've been following your blog for years. I don't stitch--I quilt. Close enough. I also care very much that you get the medical support you need and a positive outcome for this whole kidney thing. (I'm a grad of Notre Dame's Hoosier little sister university south of you. Glad you liked our little city on your recent visit.) Always wishing you the best!

  24. Ha ha! Well, said, Coni. I thought of you this week as we drove through northwestern Indiana on our way to Chicago from Cincinnati. Do you live in the South Bend area?
