OH, BOTHER...

Raise your hand if you're completely OVER any more Spinster Stitcher drama.

Wow.

That was a lot more hands than I expected.

I am sicker than a you know what with the flu. Fever, cough, body aches, tummy upset...in short...I am a crockpot full of medium hot mess.

It was to be expected, I suppose. Between seventy degree temperature swings and the fact that I go sit in a freakin petri dish full of germs three days a week, it was bound to happen. My tech was so sick on Friday she could barely stand up, and at least five of my pod mates have been in the hospital with it.

Phooey.

As soon as I can stand, I am going to don a surgical mask and head to the drugstore for industrial strength meds and some more Vic's vapo rub. I slathered myself up like a glazed ham for bed last night and used the remainder of the emergency jar I had stashed in the back of the bathroom cabinet.

But I did want to tell you that I am as sick and tired of my soap opera as I'm sure you are. I was watching Outlander last night and hollered (croaked) at the TeeVee: "Oh my God! Can you people just sit and read a book or something? How much more drama can one time-traveling WWII British Army nurse and an eighteenth century Scottish highlander get in to?!"

So I'm going to aim for less drama and more stitching. I can't make any promises, but we'll see how it goes.

Happy Thursday, Dearies! Do something drama free and come tell me all about it!

  2. Coni, so sorry you are sick again. Do any of your drugstores deliver? You could order online at Walmart and drive up and they will put it in your car. Hope you get better soon.

  4. Guess Tuesday was too good to be true to continue...one has to deal with the not so surprises. JB.. hurry home. Wish there were a medical vacuum cleaner to swoosh over the U.S. and pull all the nasties out of the air...and a lever to balance the temperatures to a steady comfort zone so we can
all recover from this Winter's malaise. Hope the medicating and rest will lift all those symptoms away. Perhaps a stay-at-home Friday might also speed up the cure....Blessings.

  5. Please please take good care of yourself... it has hit some areas to the point that schools are closing. That poor dialysis tech....but he/she should have stayed home that day. You all can't afford to be exposed to cooties.

  6. The 2018-19 flu: I think it is a viral equivalent of The NeverEnding Story. I was sick from the beginning of December to early Jan. Felt good one day, went for a walk outside on a nice day, and relapsed for a few days. Then a couple of weeks of health, followed by a hellish relapse last Friday that is continuing to give a deep cough, wheezing, headache, and fatigue. Luckily (?) retirement means I am not missing work.

I hope you will be better soon.

And don't worry about drama. When you are feeling better-ish, we cheer. When you are feeling worse, we sympathize (and I sometimes think to myself, Hey Susan, Coni is dealing with so much, so why are you complaining about a migraine). [That sounds weird even to me but I hope you know what I mean]

  7. Coni, I am sorry you have been hit with the flu. Hope you are on the mend soon. By the way, thank you for the chuckle about sitting in a petri dish full of germs. I almost spewed my coffee.

  8. Oh, I'm so sorry to hear you're feeling terribly! I know of many people laid low with the awful flu this year. (And I agree not to worry about any "drama"; we're all just concerned about you and then happy when your life is going well). Hope you can rest, take care of yourself and feel better soon!

  10. Coni . . . this is a really TOUGH BUG!!! My husband and I just went through several days of this nasty flu. Please . . . rest, LOTS of liquids (hubby ended up in the hospital with 103.5 fever and dehydration). Give yourself pampering and plenty of time, girl.

  12. I don't think you are whining, I just wish you could get your kidney and feel better. It is hard in the middle of an illness to remember what was normal before it all started. Keep on with your beautiful stitching.

  13. You need to call someone and have them bring the meds to you and also se that you have everything you need. I know what it's like to be that sick. Last year I got pneumonia, first time I was ever really ill and my husband was wonderful. Without him I would have been in trouble. I hope Jersey comes back soon.

  14. I'm surprised they let the staff in to work - awful to pass germs on to the people who really don't need any more troubles with their bodies! My son works with children with a variety of disabilities and if any of the team gets so much as a sniffle or sore throat - home you go or even do not come in at all! I hope you feel better soon and get over this quickly.

  15. I'm sorry to hear you're sick again. And I'm also surprised they let the tech work if she was so sick. Unless there was no one available to replace her on the schedule??

  16. Ha, we watched some Outlander last night (just finished Season 2). I was thinking the EXACT same thing - just sit down and relax!

    Get well soon.

She should be fired. Harsh I know but she directly endangered all of the patients. She shouldn't have come to work or if got bad after she arrived she should have left immediately. Then her boss should be fired for allowing her to go on the floor. No excuse for it. Please speak up next time. Tell them to get away from you! You are too nice and polite.

Hate that you got the sickness!
