MOMMIESTEWEYVERSARY

He was my baby from the moment I picked him up on July 6, 2005 until the moment I let him go on November 14, 2016.  This little creature was the best thing that ever happened to me and I miss him so much I think my heart will break.

Happy anniversary, Baby Dear.  Mommie misses you and hopes you are snoozing in a patch of sunlight with some daisies to keep you company.

  1. There is nothing better than the unconditional love of a dog. I'm quite sure that the dog feels the same way in return.

  7. This anniversary explains so much about your last several days. OF course you are in a funk!! Then of course the rest of life has piled up on you too. We have never been without a dog (or two) in our house since we married; I know the loss is quite real. But maybe as you are putting your house in order, you might consider another special one. There are lots of furry babies out there that need some love. Each one is unique and special, and beloved.

  15. I agree with Debbie up there. When Bobby J. Kitty passed away, I felt so all alone. It's been getting worse. I've decided I wasn't destined to live without a fur companion of some sort. I just can't do it. Three weeks ago, I volunteered to foster a kitten for our local shelter. He needed lots of love and food and some drugs for a minor upper respiratory infection. He was just the most precious thing I've seen in years. However, it was like having twin two-year olds in the house. OMG that little fella drove me nutso. Up the walls, across the ceiling and around and around and around. He wore me out. So....good to know I don't want a kitten. I've decided everyone wants a cute little kitten. Who wants the senior kitties? The ones who have been loyal and faithful companions and due in no part to them, have lost their human companions. Well...it's going to be me! This week I'm headed to adopt a senior kitty. (A nice sedate senior kitty.) My neighbor wanted to know why I wanted to rescue a senior and I told her that it was the other way around. I was finding a senior kitty to rescue me. I need to love a furball. I need to be able to take care of someone and I need to be loved by a furball. I am not replacing Bobby J. Kitty. I'm honoring him by letting another kitty rescue me. Please think about it Coni.

  24. I'm trying to work through the loss of my 13 year old companion, Tootsie, who passed in May. I also lost my german shepherd a week later...my decision, she was the reason my older dog passed. It's so hard to be without them! I feel your pain.

  25. I know your heartache Coni. When I see Stewey's pictures, he looks so soft and I can imagine how much you miss feeling his soft furry self. Happy Steweyversary! I hope you've had some happy thoughts of your little guy today.

  27. "You want a physicist to speak at your funeral. You want the physicist to talk to your grieving family about the conservation of energy, so they will understand that your energy has not died. You want the physicist to remind your sobbing mother about the first law of thermodynamics; that no energy gets created in the universe, and none is destroyed. You want your mother to know that all your energy, every vibration, every Btu of heat, every wave of every particle that was her beloved child remains with her in this world. You want the physicist to tell your weeping father that amid energies of the cosmos, you gave as good as you got.
And at one point you'd hope that the physicist would step down from the pulpit and walk to your brokenhearted spouse there in the pew and tell him that all the photons that ever bounced off your face, all the particles whose paths were interrupted by your smile, by the touch of your hair, hundreds of trillions of particles, have raced off like children, their ways forever changed by you. And as your widow rocks in the arms of a loving family, may the physicist let her know that all the photons that bounced from you were gathered in the particle detectors that are her eyes, that those photons created within her constellations of electromagnetically charged neurons whose energy will go on forever.
And the physicist will remind the congregation of how much of all our energy is given off as heat. There may be a few fanning themselves with their programs as he says it. And he will tell them that the warmth that flowed through you in life is still here, still part of all that we are, even as we who mourn continue the heat of our own lives.
And you'll want the physicist to explain to those who loved you that they need not have faith; indeed, they should not have faith. Let them know that they can measure, that scientists have measured precisely the conservation of energy and found it accurate, verifiable and consistent across space and time. You can hope your family will examine the evidence and satisfy themselves that the science is sound and that they'll be comforted to know your energy's still around. According to the law of the conservation of energy, not a bit of you is gone; you're just less orderly. Amen."

  31. My Dukie passed July, 2007, at 16. I do no ever forget about him, even though I now have two doggy babies in my home. Dukie was and is special. This does not distract from my current babies - I think maybe they get extra special love and care from me because of Dukie. Dukie would say that "Yes, that is at it should be."
