JIMMINY CRICKETS, BETTY! PUT A PIN IN IT ALREADY!

If I write about my silly life and don't show pictures of my sitching, Betty throws a hissy and tells me that nobody gives a (you know what) and that I should just stick with showing whatever I'm working on.

If I show my stitching and don't write about my life, she tells me that I'm a terrible stitcher, do almost everything wrong, and that I should have a disclaimer so that new stitchers don't think my methods are correct.

(She was once particularly cruel about Stewey.  I immediately blocked and reported her, but alas, she appears to be more technically sophisticated than I, and reared her ugly head yet again.)

(There is, quite terrifyingly, the possibility that there are actually several Bettys out there that are writing to me.  This makes me want to go sit on the floor of my closet at the prospect that somebody could have that many haters yet not be a Real Housewife of Somewhere or Other or...dare I say it...Kayne West.)

Today, Betty is especially vexed because she's "sick and tired of people posting randon crappy quote and pictures thn they get from the internes." (sic)

(sic), Betty, means sic erat scriptum, and is used in text to denote that it is being shared in its original form, including any errata, misspellings, anomalies, etc.

Or, in this instance, to demonstrate your own lack of intellectual and editorial gravitas that, if at all present, would adequately shame me for writing (as I do) in such a casual and colloquial manner.

But I digress.

What I wanted to tell you, dear Betty, is that all of your hate and venom are lost on me today.  I got your email, chuckled a bit over its complete lack of anything worthy of my attention, and got back to stitching and watching Flosstube.  No hate there...just more fun and inspiration and joy and giggles than I've had in a long time.

But...because I know that you are probably spitting fire and readying your next diatribe, I'll throw you a bone.  (What can I say?  It's Friday night, I'm warm and safe and dry in my Happy Chair, and tomorrow I get to play with my Library Guild sisters and eat a cheeseburger.)

Here's my progress on Good in Everything:

Night, night, Betty.  I hope your dreams are as pleasant as you are.

To everybody else...love and kisses and happy thanks for your continued good wishes and support.  Stitch on, my friends, stitch on!

  1. What a sad life Betty Boop has. She must have nightmares. We all love you, and like to hear about your stitching AND you and your life. We appreciate the struggles you deal with, we all have them.

  2. Betty sounds like a pathetic and sad little person. Such persons are made to be entirely scorned and ignored. Shame on her.

  7. I've been stopping by your little corner of the stitching and blogging world for a year or so and have always enjoyed it. Betty should definitely move on if she doesn't, sheesh!

  8. I think for at least one entire month, every commenter should include {Betty, you suck} subliminal messages to Betty so that she {go away, Betty} gets the hint and skedaddles. Love love love your recent work, Coni!

  9. I love your blog. I have been stopping by your blog looking at your beautiful work and reading your wonderful stories. I would not give Betty the time of day. Enjoy your videos and stitching. Never let the haters get to you. Happy stitching to you.

  10. I always like to check in and see how you're doing. Your blog is so enjoyable. I wish you the very best as you deserve to really come to a good place. The Betty bitch needs to be gone!!!

  11. Coni, what's up with rude people??? Do they really think that their nasty words mean anything to any of us? As for cruel comments about your sweet little guy, that is lower than low...she must be a very sad person with no heart...bless you, lovely lady, and happy stitching...when you have time for it!

  12. Perhaps we can get what is a pure bastion of caring exorcised of this twaddle -bearer of bitterness and self-loathing....pity her....she, who derives satisfaction from spurting such venom, warrants no more of our time or attention.... Conie, you are the bearer and recipient of the pure caring that we share...let us keep the pool untainted by inviting this self-appointed nemesis of joy to crawl back into her dark corner and shrivel away. What a difference she might have made had she truly cared
...instead she is abandoned to her pitiable, solitary self; devoid of viable meaning and purpose. What fun and
compassion she has missed.... How is that, Marcy? I'm
    off to confession.

  13. Brava, Coni! Let's not sink to Betty's level. We'll get on with our lives, while she wonders where hers went (her life, that is.....though I may be giving her too much credit...) Have a wonderful weekend, dear Coni. Love this current piece, by the way.

  14. Coni who knows who this Betty is. They need to be pitied. So sad that they feel the need to be mean to others to relieve their pain and inadequacies. We can hope that they can find some peace and joy in this world.

  16. Coni, Don't give Betty a second thought. Her nastiness is uncalled for and there is certainly no place that her negativity in the stitching community. Smile and ignore her. Have fun with your stitching buddies tomorrow!

  19. For every Betty, you have hundreds of followers (or lurkers in my case) who think you are great! Keep doing you, Coni, as I enjoy your blog so much!

  20. Doesn't it make you wonder why she keeps coming here?
Nothing better to do than bash people?
There's a name for people like that, it's "Trolls".
You just keep being you, because that's the person we love.
    We love your stitching too.
And we will be here when you go on your journey of getting a new kidney too.
    Betty............take a hike!
Good in Everything is looking great, love the animals.
    Take care.

  21. Lovely progress on your stitching.Hope you enjoy your Library Guild meet up and a good stitchy weekend.

  22. From one of your happy followers - Ignore the Bettys as they are simply not worth your time. Trolls are so miserable under their bridge that they simply want everyone else to be, too.

Love your stitching (my gosh you are fast!) and always loved the stories about Stewey and his guest editorials. He is certainly missed by us all.

    Hugs!

  23. Is she still here? I just wrote my post and it disappeared?! Oh well, just continue to be you...we love you and care about you. Have a great day at the library. Take Stewey for a walk around the place today.

  24. I keep looking for comments from Betty but you must delete them before I see them. I would give her a piece of my mind and she would end up in a corner somewhere in the fetal position. If you ever need help in a response to Betty just let me know. I am a nice person but I take no prisoners when it comes to mean people.

  25. I just love your blog! Ignore the Betty's. Your stitching is beautiful (read, so tempted to get this pattern!). Have a great time with your stitching group today.

  26. Oh Coni, pay no attention to Betty (or multiple Bettys). She isn't worth the energy. Your progress is looking good on your piece.

  27. Betty really doesn't matter and doesn't even deserve acknowledging. You, on the other hand, are totally marvellous. I really enjoy your blog. It's funny, smart, moving and you are very talented. Big hugs x

  28. Dear Coni, Your postings are the first I look for in my blogs, and your wisdom and wit always brighten my day. I don't care if you post stitchy pictures or prose or whether you post about the challenges of life. You are always uplifting and I admire your talents, stitchy or otherwise. Ignore the Bettys!

  29. This is so funny I want to start posting as Betty!

  30. Just remember that for every Betty out there there are scores of us regular people who worry about your health, cried along with you about Stewey and think your stitching is astonishing. Poor Bettys. What sad lives they must lead. Hugs!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Poor Betty! She must lead a pretty miserable life to get her kicks out of abusing someone she doesn't even know on the internet. I don't always keep up reading your blog but I love every post that I've read. I love your stitching/needlepoint, posts about what's going on with you, and your humor. (I wish I could write as well as you!)

  32. Coni...you are a gifted stitcher and a gifted writer. That is the truth. I read your blog most everyday...I consider you a friend in stitches. That means I love to see what you are working on (and truthfully, after some of your posts, my clicky finger gets a workout, because you've inspired me. It also means that I care about your life outside of stitching and your health. I consider it an honor to pray with and for you as you take on health challenges. It is very difficult to live with chronic disease. So please don't give the naysayer (notice singular) an ear and please do keep posting. Blessings, Julie

  33. First, I do not condone rudeness in any form. If something pisses gou off so much that you need to resort to a doatribe then you need to seriously move on. However, I notice that there seems to be an almost blind love fest on most blogs. All the comments constantly stroke the ego and give a you can do no wrong attitude so when there is a differing opinion it is pounced on. If you see a mistake in a posted item or see something unflattering or wrong should it be pointed out? Let it go? Should you let a blogger get in possible legal trouble over something they post? As soon as you make your post public you open yourself up to all people, not just the ones who love you. Of course there are better ways to communicate and like I said, rudeness is not acceptable. If you are that unhappy with a blog for heaven's sake....move on! People who write hateful things tend to be miserable in their own lives....perhaps even bullied or abused....so they take it out on you. Dont expect everyone to like what you say or do and dont let those who dont ruin your day. Everybody is different and isnt that a wonderful thing!

  34. First off beautiful progress!! This chart didn't speak to me until you started stitching it. Second, I had my own Betty a few weeks ago and I responded with telling her she could stick her nasty words where the sun don't shine and blocked her immediately. I cannot fathom why some one would go out of their way to be mean to someone else. It just boggles my mind. Anywho, you are wonderful and Betty should find something else to do with her time like volunteer or something to make her feel better about herself. xx

    ReplyDelete
  35. What I can't figure out, is why Betty continues to read your blog and communicate with you if she so disapproves of your stitching and your blog style. It must be that she desperately needs to feel better about herself. We all know that people only criticize because they are also critical of themselves. If they make others seem "less", than they feel like they are better than others...but guess what? They aren't. They're just plain negative. Coni, you are funny, and real, and a very talented writer and stitcher. I've had several stitchy teachers tell me that it doesn't matter how you do it, if you're having fun and YOU are happy with the outcome. Buzz off Betty. Get some counseling.

  36. To all the Betty's- if you don't like the blog don't read it. Seems pretty simple to me.

  37. Poor Betty...someone stitch her a heart...

  38. What the H? I'm with Aunt Lori! Get out the needle and thread! Love you Coni...your blog and your stitching, oh and Bosco and the angel Master Stewey.

  39. Coni, through the years and on to this very day, I get lots of hate mail too....Bettys (or is that Betti or Betties?) anyway, they thrive on their jealousy, their self important feelings, their pride, their...fill in the blank and they want to burst the bubble of those people that spread joy, may stumble and may fall but then pick themselves right back up and go again, they want to extinguish the light, fling mud all in an attempt to make their own foolish, shriveled black hearts feel good. I believe Beyonce once sang: "....middle fingers in the air..." and that's what I sing to myself as I delete, delete, delete. Betty isn't stealing my joy and I am so happy that Betty isn't stealing yours. Ugly Betty. Stitch on! Shine on!

  40. I love your delicate and precise stitching!
The only Shakespeare quote I keep readily available is "He is to be pitied and not despised." It works for all.

  41. Pardon my ignorance; I've never seen a post from this Betty person. Does she get deleted before her post goes public? Are you the only one who sees her posts? (I'm not sure how this works.) At any rate, you're getting a lot of good advice. I'd add that we all should band together and pray for her. Miracles do happen, though not always when we hope. You're doing a great job of relating to so many of us; we look forward to notes about your day-by-day living!

  42. I don't know about this Betty, but if she said something mean about my dog, I would block her everytime she posted a comment. No prayers, no "aw, she's having a bad day", no quarter at all from me. I love seeing photos of Stewie and I know he was a big part of your life. No need to ask how I know, pet owners just know. Get Betty out of your life.
