AND A ONE AND A TWO... **EDITED**

**Hey, kids! Thanks for your nice comments that the Ultrasuede is fabulous on the Cirque de Fleur piece. I agree, but am afraid that I cannot take any credit for this idea whatsoever! All praise belongs to Ms. Orna Willis Her Very Self, the designer. I wouldn't want y'all to think that I had a decent thought in my head, after all. I have a reputation to uphold!**

Grandma Rich used to come visit with us every summer (to escape the Phoenix heat), and one of the things I remember most fondly was watching The Lawrence Welk Show with her. I'm pretty sure that we had red pop and then we tuned in to Marlin Perkins Wild Kingdom and then ultimately The Wonderful World of Disney. Remember all of that?

So last night as the clock struck midnight I had a "And a one and a two" kind of moment as I finished not one, but TWO pieces that I had been working on! (Can I get a big WOO HOO from the congregation, please?)

Here is Cirque de Fleur by Orna Willis:
Who knew that appliqueing Ultrasuede to a canvas could be so darn satisfying? (Oh, and for those of you who asked about this one....it was a cyber class that was offered by Miss Orna last year. What can I say? I'm a little behind schedule.)

And next up is Sew Much Fun's Love insert, which I think is supposed to go in the front of a purse or something. I'm going to make it into a little framed piece for Valentine's Day:
Ahhh, bliss. Three finishes for the year and two of them were WIP's. Now THAT'S a trend that I hope continues, especially since I made a list of every single WIP known to me in the whole entire Spinster Stitcher universe, and I'm thinking that it's time to tackle that puppy once again.

We're off to the weekend! Chicken wings and chip dip for everybody!

  4. Awesome finishes!!! Congratulations. I never would have thought of putting ultra suede on a piece. Great idea.

  5. And the congregation says: "AMEN, Sister!!!!!!!"

congrats on both-- love your plans for turning the Sew Much Fun from a purse insert to a framed piece.... I always worry about hte purse inserts being too fancy and snagging, or even more annoying to me, not really going with the purse they are supposed to be mounted in.

  9. Wow Coni they are both great! I LOVE that ultrasuede appliqued on - just really 'makes' the piece. Congrats on getting in 3 finishes already. Hope you are staying warm and Stewey is getting used to the snow. Our Chicago relatives have been sending us photoshows of all the snow they are enduring. Brrrrr is all I can say although I do miss snow, just not the cold. Go Steelers and pass the spinach dip please.........(I can't root for our arch-enemy the Packers.....)

Oh, I loved those shows. Haven't thought about them for ages but as soon as I read their names, for some reason "Daktari" also popped into my head! Ah, the good old days...

  17. There is nothing that calms the soul like the theme to Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom!

  18. I ADORE your Cirque de fleur...Who knew the ultra suede would look so wonderful?? I do have a confession to make...as much as I love your canvas work Coni, I would not be able to leave all that background un-stitched. Maybe it`s because i`m used to linen, but the empty mesh disturbs me...that`s likely why when I stitched American quilt by LJP (er-hem, it`s still a UFO) I did it on linen...? My OCD just kicks in and the blank mesh just seems to mock me!

I will just have to make do with drooling over your canvases I guess. Have a wonderful full-of-stitching weekend...

    Kisses to Stewey

  20. Very snazzy finishes, Ms. Coni! And great stitching momentum. Perhaps it's something in the Hoosier snow/water, because I've had two finishes back-to-back as well this week. Will wonders never cease?

Speaking of back-to-back, my grandma used to watch Lawrence Welk on one channel, then switch to another channel to watch the same show over again. And yes, "Wild Kingdom" and Disney were on in our house as well. Of course, what did we have then? Three channels? [Sigh] Happy memories!

  21. Deborah says:

Oh you've transported me back...I even remember the MoO jingle.

"Mutual of Omaha is people, you can count on when the going's rough." Or was it tough? Hey, give me break! I was only 5! :)

Love the finishes, too. They are gorgeous!

  25. Coni: If you really, really want an amazing gizmo, you will run, sprint, race to the nearest Mac store and hook up with an IPad. This is the most amazing instrument since the invention of the rolling pin.

  26. Coni your finishes look absolutely fabulous!
I know you keep saying that anyone can do it, but every time I see these finishes I'm in awe.

  27. OMG! I SO remember that - on Sunday nights! And Walt himself would introduce whatever was going to be on the Disney show. Those were the days!

  28. Coni - Could you direct me to a website where I order the Sew Much Fun "Love" insert..?? When I typed that into the Goggle Serach Engine... well, let's just I got more than I was searching for!!!!
