PEOPLE BEHAVING BADLY

I'm pretty sure that the world has lost its damn mind.  Last night I caught parts of the news (which I stopped watching ages ago), and it was story after story after story about people behaving badly.  Today, the morning newspaper tells me more about one of our Mishawaka police officers who was killed Saturday night by a criminal dirtball degenerate idiot that I hope rots in a jail cell drunk driver, and the noon celebrity gossip was full of stupid people doing stupid things.  I finished my lunch muttering to myself that the world is going to hell in a handbasket and then decided to check in with y'all to see what's new and exciting in your little corner of the world.

Now what do you suppose greeted me as I checked my comments?

Yup.  You guessed it.

Porn.

Silly, stupid ass, porn all dressed up in the form of a comment right here on this here blog.  You might not have seen it if you just scanned through the comments, and I'm pretty sure that absolutely nobody but me really reads them, but I still can't believe that somebody out there has the unmitigated gaul to create some bloody computer program that has the ability to assault a poor unsuspecting spinster with their crapola.

(If you read the comments and clicked on that mess and were offended in any way, I am truly sorry and promise you that I will get to the bottom of it and fix the little red wagon of the person who did it.  I swear.  As God is my witness.)

Now please understand that I am NOT going to have anything to say on the general porn subject.  As far as I'm concerned...to each his own, as long as "his own" is locked in a room with the curtains drawn and not an animal, child, or old person within an eighteen mile radius of his filthy little brain.  But Geeze Louise!  Give me a freakin' break already!  Do you REALLY mean to tell me that there aren't ENOUGH outlets on the Internets for you to get your little freak on without HACKING INTO A STITCHING BLOG!?

Bad form, I say!  Now straighten up out there, or I will hunt you down and give you something to get excited about!  (Yeah, I'm talking to you....you twisted, wretched, sophmoric, pushy little JackAss!  You!)

Ahhhh, all better now.

I started AmyBear's "Fascination" last evening and managed to complete a total of four squares before calling it a night.  Hmmmm.  Four down, three hundred ninety six to go!

This is a really fun piece to stitch, but I can tell that this is going to take a lot longer than the fifteen minutes I had previously thought it would.  Phooey.

So Stewey and I are off to the back yard to build a snowman.  I have been promising that we would do so for the last two weeks, so today I figured I have better make good or suffer the consequences.  He's been rather patient all morning, and I don't think we've had any peeing on drapes as of yet, so methinks we're making progress for a Tuesday.  Damn dog.

I hope that you're having a simply lovely day and that you'll stitch something fabulous!  Woo Hoo!

  1. Why, I ask, why does someone have to throw smut in the game. We always have such fun here at Chez Spinster. You and Stewey have brought me hours of good wholesome entertainment.

BTW, I love the latest project. If only I would get into Canvas work...

  2. You go girl!!!! I don't understand the thrill of posting something disgusting on someone's blog. Shock value??? I don't get it.

  3. What a shock that must have been. I do not pretend to fathom the mayhem some people create just because they can! The colors you are using are lovely!

  6. What a totally cool design to be stitching!

How absolutely absurd that someone did that to you. Just goes to show how little-minded some people really are in this world...

...and I believe we are already in hell in a handbasket. We just have to find our way out...

  7. Those blocks are waaayyy cool. I have never tried canvas myself, but I can certainly appreciate all the work that they require!

As for those hackers, I seen that a few times recently on some other stitching blogs -- filthy, filthy....hunt them down and let Stewey pee on their computers!!!

  9. Hello Coni -

I just discovered your blog (and at quite an exciting moment it seems) and look forward to visiting often.

Love your new start - and look forward to watching your progress on this one.

Will we get to see pics of your snowman?

  10. There are somethings that I just don't understand.....this is one of them!

I love the suggestion of letting Stewey "handle" them. LOL!

  11. Love your new start Coni! Pretty colors so far.

And I've been having the same comments on my blog too. Not all of them porn, but some pretty strange things - a lot in Russian. Anyway, I enabled comment moderation on anything over two weeks and it's seemed to pretty much clear it up, although I had a rather strange one this week. No porn, thank goodness.

  12. The start on Facination is wonderful, but I must stop checking between your last two post you are potentially adding to my stash!!

With the word verification you have I am surprised you got smutted, unless a real person took the time to enter it rather than a program, and if so what a nut - not got better things to do??

I trust you and Stewey will put them in their place if you find them! Call if you need help.

  13. Look at the bright side, maybe some one was out there looking for some porn and was led to your blog while the comment was still there and discovered needlepoint and now we have another stitcher among us. Okay, maybe that's not the type of stitcher we want.

Fascination is fascinating. I haven't seen that one before, I'll have to check that out at my LNS.

  14. Beautiful stitching - gorgeous colours.

  15. I love the new project! You will have it done in no time at all I'm sure. As to the porn incident, well, I guess some people just do these things because they are compensating for something in themselves that is inadequate... if you get my meaning.

  16. Just use the Wicked Witch Voice off Wizard Of Oz... " I will get you Ugly and my little dog will get you Too ! ". That I hope will stop them... and I Love those Colors !! Looks Springy & Summery !!!

  18. Re the smut, I'm sorry you had to deal with it, good approach and attitude.

Your Orna Willis piece is beautiful!

  19. Fascination looks great. I love seeing all these canvas pieces I have no idea how to stitch. Ah, vicarious stitching~

  20. Woo, love those blocks! I never would've known how fabulous they are if you hadn't gotten a close-up. You're in for some stitching.

Gee, I totally missed the nasty comment, and I read a lot of them. There's just no figuring out some people, but I like the way you gave them what-for.

  21. I logged on to check Grace progress and you have FINISHED! Wow, I am so impressed. Obviously not as impressed as your spammer. I think it is a wonderful idea to let Stewey pee on their computer and if that doesn't work, let Bosco upchuck on them. The new design is beautiful too. I am going to work on the Orna Willis cyberclass that is coming up and can't WAIT on the project.

  22. I hope this isn't a trend. I saw a bumper sticker once that said "Mean people suck." People who deliberately destroy or ruin things for others suck, too!

Pretty colors on your new start.

  23. Love the idea of Stewey handling the nasties! I don't know how these people have time for the craziness they do. Don't they have stitching to do?!?

The new piece is divine! You find the best projects!

  26. A lot of blogs seem to have been getting this ridiculous stuff lately, I can just imagine some spotty, sweaty little twit giggling to themselves.

  27. Porn on the spinster. That makes me angry. I've gotten some too. I just try to not think about it. Idiots. And you are right about the world in general going mad. That's why I listen to books on my Fuze and go out rarely. I like my house. :)

  28. I have been getting porn on my blog too Coni. It`s damned annoying, and I report them promptly. It`s about all you can do. God knows there are plenty of web sites out there for that, there is no need of it here. I like my stitchy world clean and serene...

  29. I moved my stitching blog to a WordPress blog a friend set up for me...only to have to deal with all kinds of porn spam comments. I got an occasional one here on Blogger, but that's all my comments are over on WP! Sheesh!

So sorry to hear about the Mishawaka police officer. I was living up there when the 2 officers were shot and killed a few years ago (2004??) and I remember feeling so angry at the senselessness of it. I got "stuck" (not complaining) in the Target parking lot the day of their funeral...I have never seen so many police cars in one spot in my life! Very impressive.

  30. I was lucky enough to be one of the Pilot Stitchers on Amybear's Facination. I got the quadrant I had to do done quickly and now I am trying to get the other three done :-) It is really fun and the little squares give me a good stopping spot so I don't stitch all night and fall asleep at work (which would not be pretty as I often have to drive a forklift). I have been trying to get back to stitching after a long dry spell (involving getting separated and leaving a bad marriage - yay!). this was the piece that got me going again......

  31. I got the porn thing in my blog comments as well. What a shock that was!!! Have no clue where it came from!
