A SQUIRREL A THON?

Oh, poor Stewey. I came out of the kitchen today to see him laying in front of the patio door carrying on what I assume to be a very intense conversation with his friend. I thought his name was Steve. Turns out it's Patches. Patches the Squirrel.

Poor Patches seems to be unwell. He has some pretty nasty looking bald spots, as well as a few scabs that he tended to quite frequently. I was grossed out completely, but Stewey showed uncommon compassion and told me that he was going to organize a Squirrel a Thon for Patches so that he could go get a little wig. Stewey is very fastidious about his appearance, so he felt it important to Patches' self esteem that we get this situation rectified immediately. Damn dog.

(As yes, for all of you smart pet owners out there, I am making sure that Patches is absolutely no where in sight when I let Stewey outside, since it would seem that whatever he has would not be very nice on poor Stewey and God knows we don't need any more drama around here than is absolutely necessary.)

Cherry Cordial continues. I hope that I can finish this piece this weekend. I made the mistake of checking out the website for the designer/shop owner, and I discovered that she shows multiple color ways for most of her charts. Damn, drat, and phooey. Now I just might have to do this one over and over again in different colors. Maybe one for each season and then frame them all together? This one is rather springy, so looks like I'm ahead of the game. Woo Hoo!

I am so determined to work on Laura J. Perin's "Daisy Collage" this weekend that I have decided to do all of my chores today and tomorrow so that it's the only thing I have to think about. I have lusted over this one since I first saw it and I suppose that I have been trying to sip at it like a damn good cup of coffee to make it last longer, but I reaaaalllllly want to get it done and up on a wall. Then, of course, I have at least eighty other LJP pieces that I want to do, so I better hop to it!

  1. OMG Coni, that piece is absolutely, 100%, out of this world gorgeous. I can see it in blues, and all sorts of different colors. How do you always find the most interesting, and unusual pieces to work on? Stewey is finding them for you, isn't he? Can't wait to see more progress on this one. Might have to make it for the eldest in purple and black--that would be cool!

  5. Hey Spinster Stitcher, what happened to your BBD called Beyond My Heart? Did you stash it away in the UFO drawer? I was trying to get mine done before you and if you put it away I might stand a chance.

Poor Mr Squirrel, looks like he needs some major medical attention.

  7. Poor Patches. It's a good idea to keep Stewey away from him - that squirrel might be sick :(

The Cherry Cordial is coming along nicely. I would love to see it in greens. Not to give you more work to do or anything :)

  9. Coni, don't you love the "Cherry Cordial" design? I've got several of her charts to do as well as some LJP (not counting the painted canvas that are breeding in my armoire as I type). At least "Patches" is outside...I have an inside/outside cat, Ranger, who delights in bringing his mommy gifts. Usually his gifts are dead and half eaten which are not 'great' but it is better than the one he brought me Friday. It was very much alive (Charlie the Chipmunk) and of course Ranger let him down and Charlie ran under the door to the guest room/junk room and vanished. It took quite a while to find Mr. Charlie and capture him to put back in the big outdoors. Just be glad that Stewey doesn't bring you gifts like that.

  10. Ooohhh, Cherry Cordial is looking wonderful, I love the colors. As you said, this would be a fun design to pick other color combinations and do for different seasons. Loved your write up on Stewey and Patches, and your earlier entries as well, you have such a fun style. I about died reading your earlier post on Stewey, the drapes, and Judy Blume, too funny. Given my age, and that I have 3 cats and a dog currently (with many past furbabies too), I can relate to just about everything in the entry, LOL. Your BBD is looking so pretty too. I've not done one of their designs yet, but have Easter Parade in my stash for later.

  11. Isn't that Stewey a sweet soul?! Looks to me like Patches could use a coat of some sort as well as a wig. What's Stewey got in mind for fund-raisers? ;)
