MY BRAIN HURTS
This sucker is one of the hardest things I've done in a while! All of these specialty stitches really require intense concentration, so I feel like I'm getting a good mental workout every time I thread up!
The challenge of the specialty stitches is also the fun of them. Yes, sometimes we prefer the simplicity of “paint by number” pieces with only thread X’s for the beauty and ease. But rising to the level of stitching that requires serious focus and attention to technique is satisfying on a different level.
Your stitching is gorgeous, Connie, and you should be proud of this. But don’t “punish” yourself by feeling like you “have to” work on it if you truly don’t want to. Needlework is our joy, not a burden.
Enjoy sploshing in the pool - it’s rainy here so a good housework day and stitching to look forward to this evening. ~Ruth
What a gorgeous sampler of stitches - and mental prowess!! I LOVE the red and white. I eager to see where this goes. Challenging and so satisfying. This is why I love counted needlepoint. My current hurdle will be attempting Jessicas and my brain will hurt!
I really love this piece - especially the middle red row. I thought that the center stars were little tiny maple leaves, just like the Canadian flag - perfect for celebrating our 156th birthday on Saturday!
This is quite a change from what you've been stitching lately. It's very pretty! I didn't realize how detailed this is from the pattern cover photo you posted a few days ago.
Coni, what are the specialty stitches? It looks like the dreaded Queen stitch is in the mix, but I cannot make out the others. It is really pretty though!
Once you get into it....the brain is a marvelous instrument... it
ReplyDeletepick it up and runs with it.....Enjoy the pool.
