TUESDAY...WAITING FOR MOTIVATION TO ARRIVE

My chore list and I are having a disagreement today. I just want to sit in the HappyChair and chill all day, but the list of crap I really should be doing instead seems to be growing as we speak.

CS2 is a mess and overwhelmed with STUFF, and I need to corral it all to quiet the hollering in my head. I am averse to visual noise, so maybe a quick ten minute tidying session might be necessary to allow me the rest of the day at ease.

A bit of stitching on Winter Quakers last night, but not really enough to get excited about. I am going to continue playing with it for a bit and contemplate something new for the weekend, I think. There's always the cardinal canvas to return to.

Happy Tuesday, Dearies!

  1. I totally get the stress from visual clutter, and adopted the 10 minute tidy a couple years ago. It's amazing what we can do in 10 minutes.

  2. Just a few minutes of picking up will make a big difference in the way you feel! Even if you only do a little in the room you are going to be sitting in. If I know that things are out of sort, then I am too and can't settle in to relax.

  3. The Winter Quaker is gorgeous!! So elegant. I have been in chore avoidance mode lately. Meh... I used to be better but I'm having some pandemic ambivalence. I appreciate order, but some days I would rather be doing something else. My messes aren't going anywhere.

  4. Time yourself on a chore and then reward yourself with some sewing. That way things get done and you have fun in between. Surprising how fast the work is sorted when you have a carrot to aim for. Hope today goes well. Here our snow amounted to teeny weeny snowballs - like polystyrene bits! No snowman today and for the foreseeable future - I have mixed feelings about that! Take care xx

  5. You are such an inspiration and so funny. I know the visual noise hinderance but i so often have an unproductive day just because I can’t be bothered to spend ten minutes clearing the tut - and I have absolutely no reason not to!
    Keep well.

  9. One way to get through the swamp may be to just start on something, one small step at a time. Keep going until you think of something more urgent/important, then start there, one baby step at a time. No urgency allowed! Just BE there and do what's in front of you. Often this works for me. Interruptions are a fact of life, and you have to roll with 'em. God says to me, "Dear Petunia, Life IS interruptions. Suck it up. Love, God."

  10. Focus on how righteous you'll feel when you complete even the smallest of tasks! This often spurs me into action and that euphoria never fails to appear. Once in the zone, I can do a lot more than I wanted with swiftness and no brain stress. I may not completely finish a job, but the start is good, and the job itself is no longer an obstacle.
