NOW THAT'S BETTER...

The stars aligned perfectly, and the Ehrman kit is exactly what I needed! I confess, I was worried that I would be hugely disappointed or frustrated, but I got lucky...the canvas is printed perfectly, I was able to sort and swatch the threads quite easily, and thanks to a few little clips I was able to roll the sides and stitch quite happily in hand.

Yes....it's wool.

Yes...it's 10ct canvas and quite rough/stiff.

Yes...my backside is a bit more of a mess that I would like.

But you know what? I just managed to sit and stitch for about seven hours and I am very happy indeed with the results. The stem of the flower is complete...now on to the petals!

  1. Oh Coni, it’s lovely! And working up so very fast. I always have to have one or two tent stitch WIPs for times when I want to stitch, but not necessarily think. Are you happy with the coverage on the 10-count canvas? I saw one on the Ehrman site I liked that was 10 count, but I’ve only ever gone as large as 12 count and worried coverage would be thin. Thanks for your thoughts!

    1. I think the coverage is swell, Marcy! The wool, canvas, and needle all feel huge, but once you adjust it's perfect!

  3. It's nice to have a project that doesn't need to much thinking or counting. Though I will confess, some days color matching can stretch my abilities. Did you stitch the yarns by the color swatches on the canvas, or did it come that way? Great idea no matter who did it. I wonder if there's not a way to do something similar for other needlework with lots of colors....

    1. I took the time to carefully sort the yarn and put it on thread drops and attach those small pieces onto the color guide. There is also a paper chart that confirms your color number, so easy peasy!

  5. I had to scroll back a couple posts to see where I'd missed that you hurt your heiney. Eventually, I figured out that you meant the back side of the CANVAS! Once it's framed, nobody will know. We won't tell.

  6. Don't you think daisies are the friendliest flower? ;) That is a beautiful pattern and look at you working on it! I'm glad Kathy explained as I thought you'd been a pin cushion at the spa with Buzzy - oops!
Here we have lockdown for the birds - avian flu has come across with the migrating birds, and a particularly nasty one. Soooo chickens in the barn making a mess, naughty ducks are being chased around the field to get them in and off they go at the gate - and off I go chasing them and flapping my coat to stop them going in the mud! And the nurse asked what exercise I was getting. I don't think she understood that chasing ducks was anything much. I should invite her over to play! So today we are shoring up and netting the areas to deter wild birds - including the naughty crows as one steals food while the other is a lookout in a tree. Now being one jump ahead of those is going to be a challenge - very intelligent birds.
So I'll leave you in peace and tranquility with your stitching. xxx
