SPINSTERS LOG...SUNDAY...7AM

Only heroes and lunatics are up at this ungodly hour.

I don't see a cape anywhere on my portly person, so I suppose that makes me a lunatic.

Oh, my goodness, Dearies! This was an interesting mad dash to get here this morning and get hooked up. I must be still half-asleep, because before I knew it I was showered, dressed, in the car, and then here in the chair doing my thing.

Hook up went super well, but I gained 11pounds of fluid since Friday!

(Pause for horrified reaction.)

I wracked my brain trying to figure out how I did it, but all it took was a review of my menu over the last several days to figure it out...

Chinese food!

(For those of you saying...DUH! Right now, you can just go sit quietly and be smug in your smugness knowing that any idiot on dialysis should know better than to go face first into a vat of Chinese food and not come out of it with an extra few beach balls full of fluid attached.)

Well, I'm not going to let this deter me from my ham plans. I will still indulge, but maybe take it a little easy and not eat the entire thing in one sitting.

Thank you for your cheering me on to the finish of the Christmas Quilt. It was such an enjoyable stitch once the thread issue was resolved, and I learned my lesson with respects to journaling.

So it's a win win win all around!

I'm going to settle in with some Flosstube now. They've got me in the "pit" today which is dead center in the unit and just to the right of the patient entrance. I feel very much like a greeter at a casino.  Or a Walmart.

I hope you have a wonderful Sunday! The countdown has begun to You Know What! Are you ready?

  1. Call me a lunatic then. Hahahahaha. I'm up between 6 and 7 am every day. It just happens. But I spend my morning very leisurely. If it's any comfort, the Christmas cookies are putting the pounds on in my house. And I don't even bake them! My sister is devious that way. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas! Remember, that ham is very patient. It's not going anywhere, and they last a long time in the fridge. Now, if I can only take my own advice regarding Christmas dinner. I don't know what it will be, but I think a reprise of Thanksgiving dinner. I'll be at my other sister's in Williamsburg, and her children and grandchildren always request her turkey feast. (She's a really good cook and baker.) I'll be off tomorrow with my own offspring and her fiancé, hoping everyone will already be where they want to be and the roads will be empty.

  2. Since I am not wearing a cape either, then I fall in the lunatic camp so we can keep each other company. Hope chair time goes well today, Coni! Thinking of you!

  3. Planning pot roast in the instant pot, with disposable tableware. Grandbaby's first Christmas, with grandparents in attendance.

Once I hit Wegmans for fruit and dessert I'm ready to enjoy some time at the sewing machines and the stitching stations. Can't wait.

  5. My cape flew the coop a long time ago - I think the cuckoo bird snuck off with it to be honest. That could be because I have a snowball- shaped snowman sitting on top of it year round. (the top of the clock that is). Anyways, enjoy your ham plans :-) can't wait to hear about them !

  6. I definitely think you're a hero to get there at 7am! I do love the early morning, but enjoy sleeping in too! I hope all went well today; it's great to have that done so you can enjoy Christmas Eve and Christmas day at home. Your menu sounds delicious! I always make ham for New Year's day.

  7. I don't do that early a morning unless I have to, and there are days I have to - UGGGHHH. But what a nice surprise for all who entered your Queendom, being greeted by Miss Coni, her very self!

  8. Well done on your commitment in getting to the d-chair on time. I guess the upside is that it will leave you with the afternoon free. I do hope you feel like hamming it up and rising to the demands of being the official unit greeter as other traipse in throughout the morning. Perhaps you could tell everyone a different knock-knock joke as they arrive!

  9. My husband said to tell you that parsley and potatoes (no butter on the potatoes) will reduce water retention and help with the salt in the ham. He has heart disease and diabetes, and loves to cook. (And thank you for the magnets! I'm sending you an email.)

  10. I am definitely not a early bird either. I don't see 7am very often.
