IN WHICH I REMEMBER HOW TO TREAT MYSELF

Remember how I used to have to bribe and reward myself at Chez Spinster to do things like laundry or dust? I stopped doing that when my entire life upended and changed, but I decided to re-implement the bribe/reward system as it relates to making it through the week.

If I go to all three dialysis sessions and behave myself nicely, I will stop at the Starbucks in front of CS2 and get a Venti latte with two pumps of cinnamon dulce. AND...I will not beat myself up for three days afterwards because this is a silly decadent indulgence that is fine for somebody else but not for me.

I am also issuing a challenge to myself for 2019, and that is to stop being so bloody hard on myself. Today is December 7th, so I have a full 24 days left to berate, offend, chastize, belittle, shame, and talk poorly to the mirror.  Enough is enough, I tell ya. I'm as tired of doing it as you are of hearing it, I promise you.

Time to re-tie the strings of my cape and get back to it. This mat that I've been down on is lumpy and stinky and I want to get back up on my glittery unicorn and soar like the wind.

Thank you, Dearies! Hold me accountable to this, please. If I go too far toward the other extreme, you have my full permission to smack me back into line, but for now methinks a little kindness and gentleness with myself might be just what the doctor ordered.

Happy Friday! Hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start!

Oh, and P.S....my sister has some new things in her etsy shop if you are in need of seasonal needleminders. Here's some that I added to my stash today!

The name of my sister's shop is: SiggysCloset

  1. That sounds like an excellent challenge for 2019. Life is hard enough, why make it even harder for ourselves?

Also, I'm a big fan of bribery/rewards; just ask my kids :P

  2. Rewarding oneself is a good thing; it helps provide motivation at times especially for doing things like cleaning and other activities one doesn't like. Thinking of you! Enjoy your Friday evening and be good to yourself!

  6. Good Morning Coni, I think stop being so hard on yourself is a great challenge, and is something I really need to work on myself. Thanks for the inspiration! Hope you enjoyed your latte :)

  7. What an excellent idea for 2019! You deserve to be appreciated by YOU!

I think you do an excellent job of toeing the line on all the necessary things, so you should recognize that it takes a special person (and attitude!) to do all of that.

We will, of course, all be cheering you on!

  9. ah, in the end no one is as hard on us as we are on ourselves. Enjoy that latte! I used to take my mom to Wendy's for a chocolate frosty after a radiation session. It was good for both of us :)
