WAIT...WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!

I feel like I have been in a fog for about two weeks...stumbling from treatment to treatment and home to bed practically unconscious.

So today I got the bright idea to go into the cube room studio, and lo and behold...a bag with three pieces and frames that I had hoped to do.

Last year.

So I slapped them together, and called it a win. I know I will have to take them apart at some point and frame them correctly, but for now:

This is the worst one...methinks I neeed to get a big piece of sticky board:

This one is going right next to my stitchy chair!

And I think I might find a place for this someplace or other:

That's the update today, Dearies! I'm going to go take a nice long nap, have a bite to eat, and try to stitch a little tonight.

What's new with you?

  1. Great finishes -- beware that sticky board. The acid in it can wreak havoc on your fabric.

  2. Please, please, please, do NOT use that awful sticky board stuff. It's not difficult to lace your needlework to a piece of acid free foam core and use that.

  3. I like all of them. Especially the 'stitch every day one'. It looks like it would be great in needlepoint. Do you happen to remember the title and company?

  4. I like that pedestal frame you are using for the LK 'A Little Stitch' piece, Coni. All 3 stitches are super.

  6. I agree with a previous poster. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not get a sticky board. That glue will just ruin your beautiful stitching. If you have a problem with lacing, you can use stainless steel pins and just pin it to an acid-free board. But, please, no sticky board.

  7. I joined Barbara's Strawberry Club and received June, July and August Strawberries - life is soooo good. I am going to Inspired Needle's Stitching Retreat in Shipshewana at the beginning of Sept for 4 days so will get a good start on them.

  8. I'm joining part of the comments - NO STICKY BOARD - it ruins your fabric. Straight pins on regular foam core is easy and foam core is not expensive. Just don't go to JoAnns since they will not cut it for you. Hobby Lobby is the best around me - hope you have one. If you worry about getting it even, baste it. I used to until I was more experienced. Pieces look great. Make them better by using foam core and pins (or lace).

  10. They look beautiful all framed up! I have a project I used sticky board on years ago and it still looks fine :) I also framed something today with my mothers help (not my stitching but my sisters) and she used Tuck tape to hold it in place. Haha!

  11. There is also double-sided sticky tape available that is acid free!

  12. Coni, be careful with the sticky board. I framed a piece of my stitching with one and the package said the piece would be removable easily. What ended up happening was the sticky part stayed stuck to the fabric and peeled off the top layer of the board. It took me hours to pick the mess off the back of my fabric and I was livid. Luckily it wasn't one of my good pieces. It was a beginner chart my daughter started then never finished so I completed it and framed it with the sticky board that was specifically for stitching. It was a mess and I couldn't get it all off the back. I made a blog entry when it happened so if you want the link I can provide it but please don't use the sticky board on such an obviously gorgeous linen piece. I'd reccomend that you try lacing around standard mounting board (the archival acid free stuff of course), it really isn't that hard.
