OUT LIKE A LIGHT!

It's almost time to go home today! This was a bit of an unusual session for me, because I fell asleep hard for the first four hours and didn't wake up until a few moments ago!

So much for accomplishing anything in this chair today.

Thank you for the lovely comments about Stewey. I had to chuckle, though, since that was one of his "chunky" pictures, and he was always mortified whenever I shared it. I love it, personally. He looks healthy and young and happy to be supervising his daisy.

Not much stitching to report from last night. I ended up futzing about in the cube room studio, and got distracted by the idea of canvaswork again. I don't know when the last time was that I did something on canvas...probably as long ago as the Wendy Moore class in Guild, so methinks I need to fix that!

I am hankering for a new Laura J. Perin, and she has a new design with sunflowers that has really struck my fancy. Hmmmmmm. I might have to go browsing about later today and see if I can get myself into some trouble!

Hot and steamy in these here parts, which means I am surly and feeling like I'm breathing through a wet towel. The few days of cool Fall-like weather really spoiled us for what is to come!

Last bit of news is on the kidney front. My sister will be unable to donate one of her kidneys to me, so transplant is not imminent. I continue to remain on the list for a cadaver kidney, and can expect a wait of five to seven years for one to come along. I confess that I have accepted this with much better grace than I would have expected from myself, but there have definitely been some moments.

I will, though, continue to work on building my IU fund, and am doing every single thing my team is telling me to do, including losing more weight. Only a hundred pounds to go and I will finally be the petite blonde triathlete I know is in there somewhere.

(She grins maniacally.)

Time to go for now. I will soon be unplugged and taped up and ready to go, and then it's home for dinner, TeeVee viewing, and stitching!

Here's hoping that your Monday was swell! Come tell me all about it!

  4. Falling asleep seems like a good way to pass the time at the hospital. Disappointing to hear your sister's news, but congratulations on having the capacity to accept it as well as you have. I've got a petite triathlete (deep) inside me somewhere, so once you've found yours, you could come on over and help me find mine!

  6. I am sorry this option did not work out for you. There was a man in our town that had a banner on his car and put ads every where his wife was needing a donor. Several people did go forward to see is they were a match and she was able to get her kidney. I know it sounds crazy, but maybe maybe you might consider putting yourself story out there. You never know where your help may come from. God can use the strangest of circumstance to get you what you need.

  7. Maybe a long dialysis nap means you were raring to go when you got. I'm sorry your sister can't donate. I'll continue to keep you in my prayers, there is a kidney out there for you!

  8. You never cease to amaze ... a four-hour nap while wired up to your whirring machine - really? Well done! And as for Laura J Perin - what a wonderful designer she is. I also looked long and hard at the Sunflowers, but I've got a couple of flower collages in the stash, growing grey and wrinkled, so first things first. I did a variation of her Trout collage for a friend whose late father was a trout fisherman of note and also a bird-watcher, so instead of the little fishing floats I did a bird in their block, and instead of the fishing rod I just put Octagonal Eye in green, filled up the centres with shades of blue and the smaller gaps with more green, and lo! A summer meadow! And my friend shed tears over her beetroot salad, had the picture framed and hung it in her personal bedroom while the man in her life smiled benevolently and hit the nails in. Phew! Surprise presents are always somewhat worrying. But they mostly work out just fine, as I am sure your new kidney will when it arrives - sooner rather than later. I'm holding thumbs, crossing fingers and wondering how I'm going to stitch like that ... All the best, and keep us posted.

  9. Wish the news were more positive! You will find your donor sooner rather than later, I am sure. Obviously you needed those four hours of extra sleep to maintain your fantastic pace. It was a silent reward for your ongoing strength. I wish you the best. On another note, after you send out the Damn Good mugs, would you consider a needle minder? I love the ones I see on your work in the pictures. I think a needle minder of the Spinister would be truly amazing. Keep faith and sun will shine on you!

  10. Coni, your body must have needed that nap. I am sorry your sister isn't able to donate, but will continue to pray that a donor comes along in a timely manner.

  13. Prayers for you. God has a plan and it could be that the option of your sister's just was not what He has in mind for you - He is always perfect. Hang in there.

  15. As the mother of a young man who endured dialysis, went through the familial donor search, then receiving a cadaver kidney (10 years ago) just wanted to tell you how much my heart goes out to you. I feel I know exactly what you are feeling, and I know how difficult it is. I enjoy reading your posts so I can keep up on your progress and know how to pray for you. You have a lovely attitude in a very difficult situation.

  17. Coni, if any of your fans'thoughts and prayers count for anything with the big guy upstairs (and I'm sure they do), you will be getting a kidney sooner rather than later. Chin up!
