SATURDAY SPINSTER BLISS...

A happy view from the Happy Chair:

The day's to-do list:

Hi, Dearies!  A quiet week followed by a quiet weekend, I hope.  I was a bit under the weather with a Crohn's flare up, so I hunkered down and let it ride its course.  All is now well, and I am happy to report that after a missed dialysis session on Wednesday, Friday's session was blessedly smooth.

The plan for today is to remain quiet...in pj's and stitching to my heart's content.  We were going to go over to Notre Dame for a baseball, softball, and lacrosse event, but decided against it due to a whopping 34 degrees on the thermometer.  I'm game, but Mr. Spinster isn't too keen on the cold...even if it is sunny out there.

I'm contemplating some putzing in the kitchen today, but looking for inspiration. Our Sunday brisket was delicious, so I'm trying to figure out what will give us a repeat performance.  Maybe another turkey breast...or salmon...or pulled pork...or...

So that's it for me. Boring, but peaceful and still here, which is exactly how I like it these days. Thank you for indulging my quietude last week...come tell me all about what's up in your corner of the world!

  1. Sitting at work, staring out the window as it's raining, windy, cold - and just want to be back home, snuggled in bed with my pillow! Hope you enjoy your stitching - looks beautiful :)

  2. Woke up late, took my meds and am waiting til I can have coffee. My back/butt/leg thing feels better, and I am kitting up a new sampler, Janet Burnet from The Scarlet Letter. Having issues picking the right 40ct linen, as I want it to look like the antique original. Does Zwiegart make a 40ct natural? The pics on 123 stitch seem to be way off in terms of colour...anyone else noticed that? They give the DMC equivilant but when they arrive they are no where near that colour!
Other than that there will be sploshing laundry and stitching...hope your day is wonderful! xo

  3. I'm getting ready for a 91 degree day here. Will have to close the house up at about noon. On the food front, I've found a boneless turkey breast by Jenny-O is amazing. Here is a link to the product: https://www.jennieo.com/products/113-oven-ready-boneless-turkey-breast
It comes in an oven bake-in bag and you put it in the oven frozen. I don't think I've ever had a tastier, more juicy turkey breast ever. I have no relationship with this product other than a very happy consumer.

  4. Have made a trip to the post office and now that I am home, I am hunkering down for the weekend. A few chores, a lot of stitching, and some reading are all on the to do list. Salmon sounds good to me. Enjoy your weekend, Coni!

  5. Glad you had a quiet week! Mine was also. I ended up with a stomach bug so stayed home from work for a day and haven`t really felt well enough for anything too exciting yet. Hope you have a lovely weekend!

  6. Glad your week was boring and quiet. That's the way I like it, too. Unfortunately, DH is still in the hospital going on a week now. I guess I should count my blessings. At least he is getting well. Still sending Love, hugs & prayers, Cathryn ♥♥♥

  7. Good to hear you had a blissful week and hope the bliss continues through the weekend. I am staying in and stitching, the hated weatherman predicted yet another snow storm for Alexandria, VA. Did someone make Mother Nature mad or what? It's supposed to be Spring. I think I'm going with baked chicken today.

  8. Coni-glad you are off to a good start to the weekend. I did quite a few errands today which included a trip to Michaels to picked my framed Witch Witch piece and they had a bit of a sale on some stuff plus I needed some DMC and had a couple of coupons. I love a good pulled pork and I have the easiest recipe. Slow cooker-put your pork in it on low and pour barbecue sauce and 12 ounces of root beer or Dr. Pepper. Cook it, shred it, and eat it!

  14. Coni....just a quick note to say thank you for posting a little something every day.....

When you weren't writing and were just posting pictures, I suspected you might be under the weather a bit....

But seeing at least a little something each day was reassuring!!
