I can watch eleventy seven hundred hours of the Flosstubes and write extensive notes on how to finish finish something and I can carefully scour the ads for coupons to the JoAnns and the Michaels and the Hobby Lobbies, and I can drive myself to all of the above and wander through every. single. aisle. looking for things to do a finish finish in the style of Misses (see above) and you know what I end up with?
Holy crap on a cracker. I am exhausted. But, I achieved my goal of finish finishing something that I had stitched, so...I'm gonna slap this up on the wall and call it a win.
(But can I just say that it is a REALLY good thing that I do not have the phone numbers of the Dream Team of stitchy finishers above, because as God is my witness I would have called each and every one of them to come get me, slap me silly for thinking I could play Varsity ball with them, and then firmly lead me out of the JoAnns, Michaels, and Hobby Lobbies amd into my car to go home and think about what I've done.)
Oh Coni Dear this is gorgeous. Wish that I could do as beautiful a job as you 😘

Although I know well the disappointment of wanting to try a new final finishing style and having it go awry, I actually love your framing job and think it really sets off the pretty polka dot fabric!!! I'm not familiar with all the Misses, being only Flosstube-curious as of yet (thanks to you!), but the classic frame really suits the design. Your stitching is beautiful, as always. Hope you feel better soon Coni, best of luck with the dialysis :)
ReplyDeleteWell done Horatio!
ReplyDeleteI think it is perfection!
ReplyDeleteI think you're doing a fantastic job of being Miss Connie. Your work is beautiful. Stick to being you.

Your choice of frame and matt is color coordinated perfection, not to mention the beauty and balance of
ReplyDeleteyour stitchery. A true completed winner.... That should
drive away whatever blues you have been lugging.. Rejoice..... you are a finisher!
It's gorgeous! I love it and think it's perfect.
ReplyDeleteI'm coming to the conclusion that I'm never going to be a finishing guru. I can barely manage framing and making pillows (which still look like crap about 50% of the time). I'd really like to nail down doing a flat fold, but I've ruined more than one piece of stitching attempting it. What I'm good at is *stitching*. Maybe I'll try more finishing in the future, but my confidence at mastering the harder techniques is low at this point. :(
Me, too. Trying my best to FFO one project.
DeleteSame here. I have diagnosed myself with “FOF”, aka “fear of finishing”. Apparently I’m lacking the finishing gene but I sure do LOVE seeing others use their amazing talents for good!
DeleteI'm actually going to start a slush fund for Miss Vonna to ornamentify my finishes.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! Pat yourself on the back!! You have an FFO!!
ReplyDeleteYay, Coni! It looks fabulous! Having worked in a framing shop for many years, I applaud your choice of mat & frame. They look wonderful. Great job!!!!👏🏻👏🏻
ReplyDeleteGood job! Looks great!!
ReplyDeleteWow! You continually amaze and awe me! What a great job you did!!! Where will you hang it? I hope somewhere very public so you can bow when it is praised! :D Love, hugs & prayers, Cathryn ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteI, too, think it looks beautiful. Put it on a place of honor.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice!! Congrats on sticking with it!
ReplyDeleteThere is definitely no one like the women you mentioned above but I have to say I think you did a great job of framing. Who cares what the back looks like the front is what you are showing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteLooks perfect!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Coni. I don't even know where half the stuff they find even is in said stores and if I find it, my eye dies not see the finished product they see. BUT you have a lively finish. Don't beat yourself up.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great!
ReplyDeleteMarilyn
Your finish is perfect for the piece!! I think you did a perfect job.
ReplyDeleteI love your finish!! I know 'crafty' finishes are popular right now, but there is a lot to be said for the beautiful simplicity of a frame...I always wonder what will happen when the 'crafty' finish of stitching goes out of style...will the piece stand up to re-doing? then there is all the ribbons, buttons and frou-frou...nope, give me simple every time!
ReplyDeletewait....what....you framed this?? It is so beautiful!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is finished beautifully!! I don't know what else you had planned but I can't imagine it would have been any better than this. Love that green mat with it. It is perfect :)
ReplyDeleteI think your framed finished looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI think your finish looks fantastic. I know how you feel though. Last weekend I used a small stitching piece to make a small pillow. It went a bit wonky and now I am going to have to hunt up some buttons or ribbon to do a little fixing.
ReplyDeleteHoly cow! That's gorgeous Coni. Did you frame it yourself? Have the mat cut, order the frame, etc.? LOVE that!
ReplyDeleteHi, Paula! It's a ready made frame from the Hobby Lobby that was 50% off and came to $17. The mat was $10 and they cut it for me right there while I waited! I mounted the piece on a piece of sticky board, used double sided tape to attach the mat, popped the back of the frame out, anf viila'...framed!
ReplyDeleteConi, that looks awesome. Love it! You should be proud of yourself. Great job! I love your posts. Love how you word things. Makes me smile. Hope your doctor appointment/procedure goes well today. Take care and have a loverly weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt's fabulous, Coni. You make me laugh!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Stewey would be so pleased. I've realized that although I'm a very good stitcher I'll never be all that good at finishing. Oh, I can finish well enough, but I don't have an eye for those special touches that Vonna,Priscilla, et al., put on their pieces.
ReplyDeleteIt is absolutely beautiful! Perfect finishing!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your framing job! The frame is the perfect complement for Forest Snowfall. In fact, I love the frame so much with this piece that I am going to take a drive to Hobby Lobby and see if they have it! Still plugging away on Forest Snowfall and hoping to finish it next week.
ReplyDeleteCarolyn
Well, I think it looks great! Slap it on the wall, take a little nap, take another peek and see if you don't think it's "just fabulous dahling"!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous ! Best wishes for your dialysis too. Love xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteI wish that my finishes are half as nice as yours - be proud - it is lovely!

I think your finish is just beautiful! Your choice of mat and frame really compliment the design. I’m so happy to hear that you have it on your wall and that it brings joy and beauty to your home! Here’s hoping dialysis goes as good as dialysis can go...
