THE SPINSTER STITCHER IS IN HER THINKING SPOT

I'm wrestling with philosophical and moral dilemmas today, so my normal morning routine of damn good coffee and the paper has been...fraught.

When did it get so darn hard to be an adult?

I'm off to appointments and then hopefully for a quick float before it gets dark.  It figures that today is a pretty day sans little ones at the pool, and I need to spend it in doctors' offices.

No stitching to report, I'm afraid.  Last night was our Elkhart EGA summer picnic dinner at a great restaurant called McCarthy's.  I had appetizer, entree, and dessert and came home a roly poly blissed out lump who sat in front of the TeeVee.

(It was heavenly, thankyouverymuch, especially since the scale this morning stayed exactly where it was before this little feast!)

We're off to the races, Dearies!  Hope your very own Thursday is swell!

  1. Adulting - highly overrated behavior. I know you would always strive to do the right thing, but discerning what is the "right" thing, in any highly nuanced instance, can, indeed, be challenging. Wanna bounce it off anyone? I used to let my wonderful shrink help me clarify, because just by hearing myself answer her questions, it helped a lot.
Hope you get in some pool time today after all the adulting stuff.
I've been eating rather well too. We had a fantastic evening Monday night on the USS Midway. Our docent was wonderful, entertaining, knowledgable, and the ship was set up to recreate it's significant role in the first Gulf War. They make the first strikes on Baghdad, and in all the sorties flown never lost a plane or person. Dinner was better than a class reunion, so it was just a terrific night. Last night, a Brazilian steakhouse, yes, the carnivore delight accompanied by a nice bottle of Malbec, and another evening of terrific conversation among friends. Roly poly, blissed out, and fortunately we had to walk a few blocks to the hotel after dinner, so that helped a wee bit. And today is to be appreciated for the brilliant sunshine, relaxed tempo and fact that I am not in some sardine can of an airplane flying cross country - which happens tomorrow.
    Prayers continue.......

  2. Doctor's appointments are a necessary thing but with any luck you will be home in time for a refreshing dip with peace and quiet. Sounds like a,great evening with the stichy bunch last evening! My feeling since desserts is stressed spelled backwards that by having one with your dinner you have armed yourself against any disagreeableness ( is that a word--it should be) you might encounter today.

  3. Yes, indulging in desserts should always be stressed...
Never fear enjoyment. Joe Bologna recently died...He,
a Roman Catholic married to Rene Taylor, Jewish.. In an
interview he explained the brilliant success of their marriage despite those differences.... "I was a hedonist and she was a sufferer...I taught her pleasure and she taught me to suffer.....LOL there is something to enjoying
    pleasure.....

  4. Of course the pool would be free when you can't enjoy it. That is how things usually work don't they? Hope you were able to get some time in when you got back though :)
