WHAT WILL THEY THINK OF NEXT?!?!

I was contemplating a Target run yesterday, but remembered my promise not to haul anything this week.  Also, the thought of carting Vitamin water and toilet paper up the stairs in 90 degree heat was not exactly...enticing.

I know, I know, I need to get over the fact that to leave or enter my apartment you need to negotiate a staircase.  I thought it would be a good source of exercise when I looked at the place, but now that I am feeling so poorly it's more of a "spinster trapped in a tower" kind of thing.

But then an amazing thing happened.  I went on the Targets website and discovered that they have a service whereby I can order all of my normal household stuff and it will be delivered to my front door mat free of charge!  The prices of the individual items are exactly what they are in the store...God knows Bargain Betty here checked that out carefully....and because I used my Target debit card the shipping was free.

So tomorrow morning the handsome UPS man will deliver my toilet paper and laundry soap and Vitamin water and Kcups and I may never have to leave here again!

And!  I just saw an ad in the South Bend Tribune for a company that is hiring...and they are a grocery delivery service!  Will miracles never cease?!

I'll get more mobile eventually, I promise.  Right now though I just don't feel well and am just being careful with how much energy I expend on a given day.  My tank is almost empty, kids, so I want to make sure that the important stuff (like stitching and reading) get priority!

Here's the update from last night.  Still really enjoying this!

On the reading front, I am back to the library books at bedtime.  What a difference getting back into routine is making!

Hope your Futzingday is swell.  I am going to finish Season 6 of Game of Thrones in anticipation of the start on Sunday, and if the mood strikes me will also do a little planning and paperwork.

Onward we go!

  1. Sometimes, most of the time, there is this drive drive drive going on in my head. When I can kick back breathe and read or sew for my pleasure I savor it. Newly following, looking for something, don't know what. Hope to add value.

  2. Each row is prettier than the last. I love the specialty stitches. I'm so glad you found delivery service. DH and I aren't going out in the heat either. It's awful. Can't breathe - either one of us. So indoors we stay. This too shall pass. :) Love, hugs & prayers, Cathryn ♥

  3. Starting to get back into a routine and having your "things" that make where ever you hang your hat "a home" placed around helps tremendously! Also having Target do the grocery shopping and delivered especially during the 90+ degree weather - great. I do think you have had plenty of work out. Glad to see you are having a week of some fun activities amd are out and around fun people to help recharge & challenge your creative energy. Way to go Coni -

  4. Loving the stitching. Isn't UPS wonderful? You may want to investigate AmazonPrime services as well, they have "pantry boxes" although you might already be familiar with them. We found that a number of items available there are cheaper than at the Target's even with the magic red card - and also free delivery, of course. There is a wide array of stuff available for the pantry box too. And lots of other stuff on Amazon to get you into plenty of trouble. I have discovered there are a few things they actually didn't have there, yes, you have to get pretty darn exotic not to find it on Amazon but it happened.
Number one son is a business analyst for UPS, so we may be a bit biased about them.
Laying low today too, with the heat, and a surprising reaction to that Hep A shot yesterday. Upper left arm does not want to be raised, moved or otherwise challenged today. And happily anticipating the arrival of my mani/pedi pro early this evening to perform her magic on all 10 digits.

I hope you are feeling better as the day goes on, and the week progresses. Meanwhile, continue doing nothing (except stitching, reading and relaxing) as you promised, and know that prayers continue......

  5. Coni, your stitching is knocking me out. What are people calling that stitch, Jessica, or something like that? (Sorry, I opened a bottle of Pinot Grigio and am somewhat flustered.) If it's more than a simple X, I don't think I can do it, but I am surely appreciating your work! You are correct: these days nearly everything can be delivered and it is wonderous.

    1. I promise yu, dear Evelyn, that you can do this! The charts are very clear and easy to read, and if you follow directions and just go number by number you end up feeling like a rock star!

  6. Coni I can't recall what "zipcode" you live in but my sister is in Illinois and she uses an online grocery service called Peapod.com when she and or her husband are feeling poorly. So far she's been pleased with the quality and freshness of her orders.

  7. They're trying to keep up with Amazon, Coni. May as well take advantage.

I think you're wise to take it easy, especially in the heat. Try and keep cool, and enjoy your books and your stitching.

  9. Routine, routine...nothing quite like it to keep your head
on straight and your queendom peaceable. You seem to have scheduled a routine for yourself this week, Coni, that is enjoyable and accomplishing ...sans the stress... If you
can put UPS on call for your vittles, there you have it..
stairs are overrated anyway....a few Yoga stretches are more relaxing....I don't see any tears in the forecast the rest of the week, so ENJOY every moment of this new agenda...We love you.....

  11. So glad that you found a delivery service for your groceries. I love Game of Thrones too, we're rewatching the whole thing, starting Season 5 tonight, its amazing the things you can pick up on watching a second time. A fabulous series we watched (from Starz) is "Black Sails" its about pirates!! Some fairly hunky pirates at that. It contains a mixture of fictional characters; Captain Flint and John Silver, as well as non-fictional; Blackbeard, Charles Vane, Anne Bonney. If you're looking for something else to relax, and enjoy sunshine with, look out for it.

  12. The stripes are coming along beautifully - you just have to love those fancy stitches. With all that's going on with you, you do NOT need to be hauling boxes of water and laundry detergent up those stairs. Let the UPS guy do it. He's in better shape and paid to do it. You and me, we'll just be one with the AC until you can no longer cut the air outside with a knife.

  13. Good going on your stitching, Coni! I say take advantage of the home delivery of services. Better to listen to your body and take it easy.

  15. I love getting packages! I turn into a stalker as soon as I get a tracking number for something I'm expecting! They might want to lock me up if I start obsessing over the progress of an order of toilet paper and detergent though!

We've been watching past seasons of GoT as well, gearing up for Sunday! We're on season six but I keep falling asleep and I'm afraid I'm missing critical details! You might need to be my go to for GoT!

Your Star Spangled Banner looks great! Keep on stitchin', baby!

  16. The stitching looks great. There are so many fun stitches out there. I look forward to seeing more of your piece as you work on it. Don't you just love how everyone is doing delivery these days...and often with free shipping. We started shipping our household goods to us a few months ago, and I have been very impressed with how they pack everything. --Andrea

  21. I know! All the deliveries to your door that are available these days are amazing. Just a few months ago all the local supermarkets have begun home delivery here. The delivery charge is only $5 (if you spend at least $35 on groceries), and it arrives about 2 hours after you place your order! Where were they when I was working and raising kids! have never noticed any book recommendations from you. What do you like to read? Have you read anything super good lately? I'm a faithful reader of your blog but don't comment often.

  27. Wise decision to save your energy, and I mean it. I was watching a show once that had a child who had muscular dystrophy and the doctors told her parents to get her a wheelchair to ride in to the park and then once at the park let her get out of it and play, she was to save her energy for important things like playing :) So use that delivery service to the max!!
