SATURDAY SPINSTER BLISS...

Miss Jane and Miss Charlene supervised a visit to the House of Stitches today.

(There may or may not have been shenanegins.)

Miss Joy, once again, was the Fabric Whisperer and selected a simply perfect piece of Heroic linen from Picture This Plus for this little beauty:
The threads are all conversions by Yours Truly from NPI silks to Weeks Dye Works overdyed cotton. (Happy to share names if anybody is interested.)

I didn't really neeeeedddd anything, but when has neeeeeedddd ever had anything to do with it anyway?

Speaking of neeeeedddding...one of the things that I have come to realize is that there are six things that I need to do every day if I'm going to survive this world.  I need to read, write, stitch, blog, cook, sleep, and eat.

(Breathing and water drinking are optioinal.)

(Damn good coffee, however, is medicinal.)

So...I'm heading to nap time with the latest library book:

And when I get up, I will have dinner (leftover from lunch thankyouverymuch), and I'll continue stitching:

So that's the latest from this neck of the woods.  Hope your very own Saturday is also stupendously swell!  Come tell me all about it!

  1. It is good to get out and spend time with friends - reasonable shopping, chitchating with a good meal that someone else prepared and served - then a little reading and fall into a good nap! Perfect Saturday

  2. Its a good Saturday for me. After a good visit with the hubby I am at work about to start stitching. It sounds like some retail therapy was just what you needed today. Enjoy your stitching!

  3. It sounds like you had such a lovely time of it - you are so fortunate to have an LNS so close by and sweet friends to go with :) I think both projects are scrumptious :)

  4. Sounds like a fabulous day. I'm at work. I own a store, so when the daily chores are done and between customers, I stitch or knit. I'm on a cross stitch jag atm and am stitching Scaredy Cats by French Country. I pulled out some 32 count Belfast linen, in a lovely rich pumpkin color. Well, you could slap me silly and call me Shirley. I was amazed to find out that 32 count shrinks so much when it is maturing in your stash, that it becomes so small you can hardly see the holes and you need to use a magnifier! I'm shocked! lolol

  5. I am so shocked, I hit send before I finished my comment! Ppppffftttt @ need. Nobody questions golfers and the money they spend on fees, clubs etc. and I'm sure they don't feel bad about it themselves! Do what brings you joy!

  6. I do agree with your necessities. My shoulder was really bothering me and today is my first day if stitching since last Sunday and I was beginning to lose it! I also found a book I'm enjoying. I do have a book club but I think I'm going to take a break as I find i just don't enjoy the books they pick and life is too short to take time to struggle through a book I don't like when there are so many others to read.
    Hope you enjoy your evening.
    Hugs

  7. Coni, it sounds like a fabulous day -- friends, food, and stash. I would love to know your thread conversion for this piece. And I second that you should do what brings you joy! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  8. Now there is a good daily plan....quite satisfying. Hope
your weekend is going along smoothly and that you will get
back to the pool to enjoy its benefits. Bask in the sun on the chaise, ponder The Heirs, a bit of a nap and then a dip.....

  9. Oh Coni, my day was not nearly as exciting as yours! I had a long CCD teacher meeting this morning (a good time was had by all), visited very briefly with my youngest and her family and I am getting ready to work on yet another Christmas stocking for the evening. (I love those SB stockings!)

I hope that the remainder of your weekend is fabulous!

  10. I am so very glad your day was stupendously swell. It all just makes me smile and feel happy. DH just fixed supper. Barbequed ribs (in the crockpot), boiled summer squash and sliced tomatoes. It was soooooooooooo good. :D Love, hugs and prayers, Cathryn ♥

  11. I do like the golf comparison. I call going to the mall 'worshiping at the Temple of Conspicuous Consumption.' However, needlework and yarn stores are definitely therapy. Good for you! Your comment about the change in threads for one of your pieces reminds me of a question that nags, what do you do about old patterns with threads no longer available? Thoughts? Coni? Anybody? Thanks in advance, very best to you Coni, God bless. Charlotte in AZ

  12. Oh come now, we're all friends here - of course there were shenanigans! I think Heroic is one of my top 3 or so fabrics from PTP. And I love the chart. I don't recall seeing that one before (thank you, very much!). Keep on with the plan.

  13. I've looked at Heroic a lot lately, it's so pretty. And Carriage House Samplings-I want them all!
