A GOOD START

I had intended to start with the bedroom and work my way out, but decided to do the kitchen and bath today instead.

A perfect wall for the big ass pear...now I just need to hang it.
I am especially happy how the bottom of the pantry perfectly houses my mixer, big bowls, and misc little appliances that I don't use often.

The top shelves that are empty will hold all of my baking stuff and the other shelves will be better organized with holders for cans and boxes and such.

Dishes and casseroles fit well here.  I was a little worried about this one, since I consolidated three cabinets into one:

Coffee cups, drinking glasses, and sippy cups.  Finally!  A place for the sippy cups!

Coffee, coffee, coffee!! (And Stewey's cookie jar.)

The view from behind the sink.

And into the bathroom.  I was so relieved to find a tall cabinet in there!

More stuff than I am happy with on the vanity, but this is a good start at least.

I'm thinking about this as decor...

So that's the progress for today.  I still need to hang a lot of command hooks and get some drawer divider/organizer thingies, but I wanted to get everything packed first and then make a thorough list before going to the Targets or the Beds, Baths, and Beyonds.

Tomorrow I am going to have a leisurely morning and then I have a doctor's appointment at 1:00.  Then I'll stop over at the house to pick up mail, empty the fridge and freezer, put the trash out, and grab a few small items that I forgot...like a bathroom trash can and my tool box!

Thank you, my dears, for all of your lovely notes and comments and prayers and support.  Writing to you so often has kept me accountable through this, and has forced me to keep my promise to look after myself.

More tomorrow...stay tuned!

I have to say I do admire your devotion to cooking and am glad you found storage for all of your equipment. I am a open, heat and serve type of gal. 9. It's so good to see your progress. I think you've made perfect choices, not that it matters what I think. It's how you think and feel that matters in your own space. It looks perfect for you, Coni. I'm glad you have an appointment tomorrow so you are forced not to do too much. There's no rush or pressure now. Take your time and take care of you. 17. Looking just lovely already! I know you are anxious to have everything unpacked and put away, but take your time. Unpack a box or two, turn on the TV and put your feet up and do a bit of stitching. You need a little break...

Very nice--and very smart organizing the kitchen and bathroom first (after making up the big-girl sleigh bard first of course). That's how I always did it. Take care of those basic needs, etc... So many windows, so much light, so many cabinets. Pace yourself and enjoy the organizing adventure. (Honestly, reading about your move has kind of rekindled my inner gypsy.)

  29. I love the bathroom idea...gorgeous colors! CS2 is the perfect space for everything, like it was made for you and your furniture. Your cupboards and pantry look great, everything within easy reach...even the zippy cups. I love Stewey's cookie jar, and the view from your windows is really pretty.

  30. Oy bay, that should have read "sippy cups" not "zippy cups," damn spell check.
    Okay, carry on...

  31. THAT should have said "Oy Vay" sheesh...insert very big eye roll (and a finger gesture at my laptop). TMI?

  33. I agree with everyone else: your new home is LOVELY!!
I too love the view from the kitchen sink. Wait until all your stitchy stuff is out and you can see it / ponder it from where you are cooking. I will actually drag stuff to the kitchen table so I can see it better while I cook.
And purple is one of my favourite colours...love the look of your bathroom. What a lovely nest you are making.
You have a great sense of style...I think you are going to be very happy in Chez Spinster 2.0.
    God Bless your new home!

  34. I think you deserve a day of relaxation. Or perhaps, relaxation with a couple tiny tasks worked in so you will get to move a little.
