diced seeded tomato
diced onion
minced garlic
chopped bacon
salt
pepper
lime juice
Miracle Whip (just a tiny tiny titch)
Amounts? Who the heck knows? Every time I make it the amounts are different. The only thing that's consistent is that I make a big bowl of it and then proceed to eat the entire big bowl of it every single time. Oey.
Ellie and George Siefred were friends of my Dad's from his bachelor days in Lima, Ohio before he met my mom. We visited with them at their home in Toledo a few years before Dad died and Ellie showed me how to make both guacamole and brisket...two of my very favorite things on the planet!
Most of the time I cook by what it looks, smells tastes like. Drives my youngest son lil Joe
ReplyDelete(6'6") nuts when he cooks w/ me
but that is how I learned to cook my BEST things. Blessings Baa
So many things bring back good memories.
ReplyDeleteRecipes from my aunt, Mary Virginia and my maternal grandmother (both now, gone)are some of my most treasured memories. Those of us are very blessed to have connections. The recipe for guac sounds great; the mayo sounds like a good addition.
Reread recipe. Miracle whip will be better here than mayo!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recipe, Coni, I can't wait to try it for Superbowl...I just need to get used the MiracleWhip idea ;)
ReplyDeleteI love Brisket, and use the same recipe that my great grandma used...I'm drooling writing this.
Hugs
That sounds so good...
ReplyDeleteRecipe fro Brisket please!
ReplyDeleteHappy Day!
Ruth from Oxnard CA.
Yum Yum Yum. Mouth watering here. :D Hugs & Prayers, Cathryn
ReplyDeleteI would have to eat it all! (Don't know what Miracle Whip is though, perhaps i'd just leave that out)
ReplyDeleteMiracle Whip is like Mayonaise as a matter of fact that is all I use 99% of the time.

Thank you Ruth! We have Hellmann's Mayonnaise, i'll try a little of that.
DeleteThat definitely is not an authentic guacamole recipe. Lol It is interesting how food and memories coincide with one another.
ReplyDeleteI ate at a restaurant once that served their guac in a big deep bowl with 8 or 10 slices of crispy, cooked bacon sticking out of it. Who needs tortilla chips when you have bacon? Will have to try this recipe.
ReplyDeleteYum!! Bacon! Going to save this to try myself :)
ReplyDeletePlease please, Coni: the brisket instructions!
ReplyDeleteSounds good Coni, except for the bacon (I'm a vegetarian). But kudos to you for not adding cilantro! I recently came across a recipe for vegan guacamole and it included an enormous pile of cilantro. Heresy!
