QUIET THURSDAY

We're enjoying a lazy day so far.  Stewey is napping in his little bed and Bosco is snoring in the Happy Chair.  I'm going to grab a long scrubby shower and then head to the grocery for some quick provisions and then make it home in time for our afternoon nap.

Our appointment with Dr. Niemann was very helpful.  I was able to ask questions and wrap my head around what's to come.  The good news is that Stewey does not appear to be in any pain and is still doing very well on the meds.

Thank you all for your prayers and support.  If it doesn't sound too hokey...both Stewey and I know that all of this good energy is what's keeping us going right now.  The love is...palpable and we're both wrapping ourselves in it like a blanket.

  1. Nice to see that the illness isn't interrupting his busy napping schedule. I'm pleased the visit went well too, as long as he's not in pain that is the most important thing right now.
    That and getting the silver service right for his meal times.

  4. All I can say is - as long as Master Stewey is comfortable, painfree - you are doing right. Master Stewey will let you know when the time has come. My Mister Duke, Duke of York, stayed with me through the most bad of times - and then let me know, once we were past, that it was time for him to pass on and wait for me on the other side. I still say a prayer for rejoining with Mr. Duke every evening. I love you, Stewey, Bosco, my Mr. Duke and all my puppy loves toward the future.

  5. enjoy every minute you have with him; don't think about the future and don't second guess your decisions. You made the right decisions for you and Stewey. I am so sorry you are going through this. My puppy and I are sending you and Stewey many digital hugs!!! I went through something similar last year with my Bernese Mountain dog who was only 3 so I know what you are going through.

  6. Just catching up on the bad news Coni. I'm SO sorry and sad for you about Stewey's diagnosis. There's nothing like the bond we have with our pets...I've lost 2 pets and it never gets any easier. I know Stewey is your best friend....there's nothing like a dog to always be there for you, love you no matter what and shares all your deepest secrets. Sending you both a big hug and prayers. {{{{love}}}}}

  10. Coni, I've been hospitalised until yesterday and am only slowly catching up with my favourite blogs. I had the most awful heart-stopping moment when I read what you were going through. I have animals I adore; I have inevitably lost some over the years and it is the most awful thing. Try to make the most of the time you two have left - easier said than done, I do know. If it's any tiny comfort whatsoever, just know that a very long way away, across the ocean in northern France, is someone loving and crying and hurting with you and dearest Stewey xxxxxx
