WELL, SO MUCH FOR SEPTEMBER

Remember that silly spinster who said "I'm really going to enjoy the Fall this year", and then she went and caught what can only be described as The Plague of Biblical Proportions That She Wouldn't Wish On Her Worst Enemy that caused her to miss an entire month of her life to weapons-grade pharmaceuticals and doctor visits and enough bitching and moaning and complaining to qualify her for her very own reality show on the Bravo Tee Vee networks?

She's ba-aaack.

Well, not completely, but at least I'm able to sit upright in a chair without wondering why somebody saw fit to prop my entire house on some kind of crazyass cantilevered platform that replicated the deck of the Titanic every time I thought about moving my eyeballs more than a millimeter to the left or right.

Throw in liquid Vicodin and you've got yourself some pretty entertaining shenanigans right there, people. (Liquid Vicodin...did you know they even MADE that stuff?)  As somebody who carries a big sign around that says "Warning!  I'm allergic to narcotic pain meds", I have to say that the recommendation to try this stuff came with the realization that even my family doctor was tired of hearing me complain and that she had finally decided to help me just shut the heck up already.

So here I sit, wondering where September went, but doggedly determined to embrace October and all of its charms.  If I can make it up the stairs without having to stop for a nap, I'm going to spend some time in the studio today trying to regain my lost stitching mojo.  If all goes well I won't have to call Aunt Chrissy and the Mishawaka Fire Department to come help me back down the stairs and to the big girl sleigh bed and I'll have something worthwhile to blog about in the near future.

What's new with you?

  15. Bronchitis is the worst. I thought I would never get back to normal but I am glad to see you are on your way. With Stewey and Aunt Chrissie handling your every need, how could you not be? I am pretty sure liquid vicodin will speed your recovery too! Hugs to you!!

  16. Welcome back to your chosen portion of normality - we've missed you! And, now you can stitch again, it'll be fascinating to see what you decide to start with.

Rashly, you asked what's new for your constant readers. We-ell, I took most of September off as a rehearsal for retirement, which will be at the end of December. It was good! I'm threatening to buy a 2012 calendar especially to cross the remaining days off on, one at a happy time. We've got friends visiting from Australia - they come and go; today they're coming back, then leaving for Tanzania, then coming back again before heading for Cape Town ... I could go on! It's so good to see them, and we all went down to the Kruger Park for a week and saw the most amazing wild beasties, including gazillions of gorgeous impala, which I suppose are distant cousins of Stewey's friend Daphne. Also very many elephants, two lions feeding, and a leopard sitting on a rock displaying her elegant profile (had to be a female!). Wow!

And when I'd recovered from that, I broke down and ordered three Composer Cats from Dakota Rogers - Grrcia, Grieg and Strauss. Poor Dakota was in suspense for weeks - will this scatty South African finally conquer Paypal or might she give up in despair? Happy to report I prevailed, so yet another (OK, three other!) retirement project is added to the heap. Retirement had better be lo-oo-oong!

And, you know what? I'm envying you your cool stitching weather. It's allegedly Spring here, but our maximum temperature today will be in the low 90s (32 centigrade), which makes stitching problematic. Heck, it makes metabolising problematic! But we will prevail. Onward and upward!

  18. Coni, you and Stewey and Aunt Chrissy were sorely missed. I sure hope you are recovering nicely and won't miss October. The Maple tree outside our house is well on its way to being totally red. Gorgeous! Blessings for good health and a rampant stitching mojo! Give hugs and scratches to Stewey for me, if his lordship will allow. Welcome Back!!! :) Cathryn
