A HAPPY DANCE AND A NEW BOYFRIEND

O Birdy
La-D-Da
35ct WDW "Straw" linen and NPI silks
Kit came complete with cording for finishing

I think I broke some kind of Spinster Stitcher land/speed record with this one. I don't think I've completed a project in six days in quite some time....but it sure felt good! Maybe there's something to be said for picking up projects that won't take a lifetime and a half to complete, no?

So then I just had to go upstairs to fish about in Ye Olde Stashe to come up with the next thing to keep me out of the refrigerator and off the streets. Meet my new boyfriend, Rusty:
Isnt' he swell? I had dreams about him last night and can hardly wait to get my mitts on him later today. I've been wanting to work on something LJPish for a while, so I think this will fit the bill quite nicely. And I'm also thinking that if I am consistent with him and work steadily along, I might finish him in time to start some Christmas stuff.

Nope. Haven't figured out what it was that fell on my head that has me working these projects one at a time. I'd love to tell you that this new development has brought some sense of order and calm to my stupid little life, but alas, I am still flitting around the place like the 300-pound hummingbird that I am. Some things, I guess, will never change.

(Wouldn't you think I'd be skinny as a freakin' rail with all of that activity? Doesn't stitching and thinking about stitching and planning stitching and writing about stitching get rid of ANY calories?)

(Oh. I guess that devil's food chocolate bundt cake with Kaluha/Butterfinger ganache didn't help matters any now, did it?)

(What can I say? You simply cannot watch the Food Network and expect to keep the KitchenAid mixer in the cabinet.)

I have to go eat cake now.

Happy weekend!

  1. Cute finish!

As to the calorie thing...If I could figure out a way to stitch while on the tread mill, my butt might be a little narrower too!

  3. Fabulous finish!!

Now if you ever figure out how to burn 100000 calories an hour by stitching please do share the secret. LOL

  4. Awesome finish! When I first saw this design on the pamphlet, I wasn't very fond of it. After seeing yours though, I've put it on my wishlist. Thanks for sharing your finish.

  5. Great finish! Have a great weekend stitching. I've taken a couple of days off work so I'm super excited about my upcoming break. I'm hoping to get a lot of stitching in myself!

  6. Explain life to me - if it tastes yummy or I enjoy it - the calories sit like lead. If it tastes like crap or I hate doing it - less calories and you feel the burn! Go figure!

Great finish - gotta love the quickies!

  7. Love your O Birdy finish!

I also love Rusty! I have always been attracted to men with broad shoulders and he sure fits that bill!

Is Stewey aware of this new boyfriend of yours? I hope he isn't too jealous ; )

  8. Love the stitching and can't wait to see it finished. You were so quick too. i need to know what you did about Luigi? Did you go out and buy another Luigi? I have a Nespresso machine and I really love it. Unfortunately I just love coffee with cream! Bad woman that I am. Never mind my poor little coffee machine sits neglected from one week until the next whilst I am on Weight Watchers.

  10. Hopefully Rusty will take the sting out of losing Luigi. A girl has got to find comfort where she can, I mean besides the cake, which I wish I had in front of me right now. Thanks, now I have to look up some chocolate bundt cake recipes now.

  11. Love your finish...this is a great design! Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I am betting you will fall off the "only one project at a time" wagon pretty soon!

  13. Watch out for Rusty. I hear scarecrows are very rigid. Could you really go on a date with Rusty? His feet don't even touch the ground. And what is that stick doing between his legs? Ah, if Rusty only had a brain....

  14. Just remember stitchers have skinny fingers from all the exercise they get.

  15. Coni,

Thank God for the Internet! I was at a show for the business and was away from Weds till Saturday, so got to see the news at Chez Spinster! Whoo hoo! I tried not to use the internet kiosks that the show people had set up for long periods of time - just to catch up on much needed info - like email, the weather channel and you! :D

So congrats on the new finish and I think the new boyfriend may need a brain to go with the outfit, but then he's got you, so maybe that need not apply. The only scarecrow I liked/loved is the one from the Wizard of Oz, but that's understandable right?

I did want to offer sympathies on the death of Luigi III. Ah, hearing the name makes me think of tenors singing arias all day long. Here's hoping that you can get the newest and bestest Luigi yet at the counter top soon! I dread bad coffee myself, so I can sympathize as you struggle to get through the day.

Hugs and Love to you and the Stew-meister, and Aunt C and Bosco too!
