So there I was, minding my own business, when I decided to start something in the cross stitch department. I've always loved designs by The Drawn Thread, and after much futzing about, I decided to start Moonlight Garden. I had visions of this one stitched and framed next to the dining room window that looks out on my own little garden, but alas, it was not to be. After about two hours of squinting through my reading glasses, I decided that this would have to be a project for another day. Apparently, my eyes have decided that they would prefer a little more canvas work at this juncture, so I happily obliged.

This is from the WIP pile...it's Laura J. Perin's Lily of the Valley Collage. I think I might push on through with this one until it's completed. (How many times have you heard me say THAT before?) It's just lovely, and I even have the silk flower to apply to the middle portion of the canvas. (If you recall, I got a wild hair and decided that I would fixatate silk flowers onto the middle of these flower collages, so we're now two for two.) (The first one was the daisy. Remember?)

Storms have ceased momentarily here in Hoosierville, and this week is quite lovely to behold, but I hear we're in for some more stickymess by the weekend. Swell. Just in time for me to slap on the big girl bike shorts and fire up the barbeque grill for the Official Stitchin' Spinster Sisters Stars and Stripes Celebration. Oh well, maybe Aunt Chrissy and I will suffer through some microwaved wienies instead.

Back to the Happy Chair! Woo Hoo!

  1. Oh well heck...I'd pull on my bike shorts if I could take part in the Stitchin' Spinster Sisters Stars and Stripes Shellerbration :)

  2. I vote microwaved weiners !!! To hot outside !!! Stewey can't wear that fur coat outside... haha

  3. I love the lily of the Valley piece. I think you should go for the big Stars and Stripes Celebration.

  4. I do remember the daisy! I love the daisy! Glad to see that tradition continue. The Lily of the Valley Collage seems like a sweet, peaceful summer project and it's good to see you so excited to get back into the Happy Chair! WOO HOO!

Happy Official Stitchin' Spinster Sisters Stars and Stripes Celebration!!!

  5. Break out the moomoos and nuke the weiners!!! Enjoy!

  6. oh yeah lets have a spinster weekend!

  7. Coni -- you MUST try a Daylight clip-on Magnifier. They are goose-necked and come in two lengths; one is about 8" and the other is 12". They clip on your q-snaps (or stretcher bars) and are the greatest thing since sliced bread. I have stitched on 36 count linen and 24 congress cloth and the congress looks like #12 canvas!

I have no financial connection to this company, but they are so fantastic that I have to rave about them!

btw, That Miss Laura J is my favorite!

  8. Oh wonderful choice! I really liked what you did with the daisy piece and am sure that the lily of the valley will look just a beautiful with the silk flower in the center.

I hope you and Chrissy have a great 4th of July!

  9. I love the lily of the valley center in the current piece. Try stitching in daylight on the other piece - your new glasses aren't helping? They look so cool, though! LOL

Hope your SSSS&SS was just a blast and a half!
