THE SUMMERTIME BASKET OF SPINSTER STITCHY LOVE

Well, I managed to survive a few hours up in the studio, despite the fact that it was a little warm up there. The sun was streaming in the skylights and heating things up pretty well by the time I dragged my pajama clad self up the steps, but I didn't get overcome by the vapours and actually got a few things organized.

Herewith I present the SUMMERTIME BASKET OF SPINSTER STITCHY LOVE:

This is the wool applique project that I found on Sue Spargo's website. I've never done anything like this before, so it should be pretty interesting.

Is there anything better than a big 'ol Shepherd's Bush sampler to get things moving in the right direction?

I don't think I've done a Drawn Thread piece in ages. This should be good.

With so little left to go on this one, I figured it was time to get it out of the abandoned bone yard of unfinished projects and into the big FUPPY box, where it can languish with all of the other crap I've yet to frame, sew, send off, etc.

I forgot that I actually obsessed over all things crewel not so long ago. Maybe I can stick this one in my purse as a take-along project?

Still loving strawberries. I'm determined to get this one done before the crops of them start to hit the farmer's market.

OK, I know. I am woefully behind with this one and feel as though I missed graduation and will now have to go to summer school. Never fear, though...it's in the basket and ready to go again!

So that's it for now. Only a few things to get me started and hopefully back into the Happy Chair when it's positively beastly outside. I purposely kept the list small this time so that I won't feel like I'm trying to eat the entire elephant at once. We'll see how it goes......

P.S. Sadly, my local needlepoint shoppe is going out of business...everything is 50% off...let me know if you are interested in pictures of what she has, and I'll gladly send them your way. She has tons of beautiful hand painted canvases.

    HAPPY STITCHIN'

  8. You have got such wonderful projects to work on! I'd be giddy with excitement to have all of those in my stash. There must be something about the SB pieces - I just pulled one out to work on also.

  9. Oh Coni, I have not touched the Orna piece other than to take it out of the package and say 'oooo, what pretty colors'! So you are not behind, dear heart. And I too am in a stitchy slump because it is just so blasted hot and humid already here in 'Bama and draggin myself home from a fun-filled day of work is sometimes about all I can manage.

And I am almost like you in the clothes pin department...my kitty, Ranger, was already 'altered' when he arrived at our house looking for a home, but he tends to mark everything within his eyesight. And no, there isn't anything that can be done about it surgically (I have asked). So I follow behind him with my spray bottle of 'pee remove' and dab at my furniture. What we won't do for our babies.

Stewey, you may need to intervene here and hide some of this stash.Me thinks your summer walks might be a bit light on if your mo-ther buries herself in the summertime basket. My 3 dogs sent you a message: woof, woof, Hide the pegs Woof.

My Basket of Summer Joy has four BAPs that my friends would love for me to finish so they don't have to watch me stitch them any longer!

  15. Beautifully edited basket. I can't wait to see you stitch the Drawn Thread project--I have it kitted up, and it may be the nudge I need to get started. Plus I can't wait to see the wool applique project.
