GOOD GRIEF, LADY! EAT SOMETHING, WILL YA?!

That was the phrase that came spewing forth from the Happy Chair during last night's Oscar telecast. Every time the camera showed director James Cameron, I caught a glimpse of the woman seated next to him and bellowed. Was it just me, or did she appear to be in desperate need of a cheeseburger?

So I'm blaming Siobhan for my Saturday. (Her blog address is http://bluehenhollow.blogspot.com/). I was drooling over all of her lovely stitching when I came across pics of the "Seasons" girls from Birds of a Feather that are hanging in Siobhan's home. "Oh, Holey Crap, those are beautiful!" I said as I grunted up the stairs to the studio. "I have to do those! Right this very minute!".

Several years ago, I started Le Printemps on a beautiful piece of 28ct. linen the approximate size of a bedspread, but for some reason I put it down and didn't get very far. So I stripped it off of the scroll rods, slapped it into some q-snaps and sat down for a little marathon.

Within about six minutes, though, I was frustrated and calling Aunt Chrissy to get me off the ledge. The colors! The colors! What the heck is up with the colors! Siobhan's doesn't look like this....hers is lovely and perfect and I want mine to be just like it. So why can't I figure out what the heck is up with the colors!

And then I realized that I miscounted somewhere and the entire bottom portion of the dress is off by one stitch. Damn, drat, and phooey. Back into the pile it went.

(So, Siobhan, if you ever feel compelled to show a spinster a little stitchy love....can you tell me if you changed the colors that were called for? Oh, and then please beat me over the head with a rock the next time I think that I'm remotely qualified to sit at the cool kids' table with you....).

On Sunday I decided to pick up my Cirque de Fleur and I managed to complete lesson three. A few more Jessica's and I should have Lesson Four well in hand: I'm not sure what will be on the agenda for this evening, but I know that a nap will be required before anything commences. Stewey and I tossed and turned all night listening to the howling of the coyotes, and I kept jerking awake to make sure he was tucked in safely beside me. Oey....it's not easy being me.

  2. I agree with you about Siobhan's beautiful cross-stitch - she is the most prolific stitcher I ever saw and everything she does is a BAP. I love to look at her blog and see pictures of her home and all the stitching she has done!

  3. Thanks for the intro to Siobhan's blog. I need more time to drool over other people's stitching.

  5. Thanks for sharing the link to Siobhan's blog. What lovely stitching! Another to add to the list. By the way, just want to let you know that your humorous blogging had me going back to your archives. What fun! I really should have been stitching myself(or organizing MY stash) but I once I started, couldn't stop. The episode of your eyeglasses and the lamplight was just hilarious! I'll have to remember that caution when I get my own (reading glasses will be in my future I'm sure!).

    Keep stitching and keep blogging!

  8. Looked to me like that gal needed the fries and shake combo with her cheeseburger! She was kind of gross looking! Just saw her on ET.
Fortunately for me no one will ever look at me and say that girl needs to eat! LOL

  10. I agree with Darla--you sell yourself short, gf!! Okay, my Le Printemps... I went with the bedsheet idea, too. Then I had them matted. I wanted them BIG. I still love that series and want to do Autumn & Winter, even though Autumn looks a little, umm, masculine. I did use the suggested threads, which look just like yours... my living room gets a lot of light so it's hard to get a good picture of them, especially under glass. I make a cagillion mistakes in counting but that's one of the nice things about Le Girls--you can fudge it pretty easily. I have to say, of all my stitching, the BOAF girls get the most comments and compliments. Even my sister in law, who doesn't like "those arts and crafts" that I do, says that they are the one thing she could see in her home. LOL A tip... I rarely mark my charts but I found it easiest to mark off what I'd stitched with a highlighter after each stitching session, since everything is done in lines. I love the BOAF designs but their charts are so tiny. Enjoy! Love the needlepoint, too, btw!

I haven't watched all of The Oscars, but did see Skeletor with James Cameron. Yikes!!

  11. Well, now that Siobhan has given you her advice - perhaps it will come back out of the pile! You do beautiful work and deserve to be at the big kids table!

  12. Siobhan's blog can be the death of a lot of us stitchers - she always stitches such great things. I love that girl though - told myself I'd stitch it after I saw hers - but alas, not yet. I'm going to enjoy watching your progress on it - I'll just pretend I'm stitching it.
