MOVING RIGHT ALONG

As you can see, I'm moving right along on Cherry Cordial and am really hoping that I might finish it this week. Could I really have three finishes in the first three weeks of the new year? Could it be? Is it possible that somebody who stitched a lousy eighteen projects last year might actually be on track to stitch more than that this year? Will wonders never cease?
I got the coffee cup at Crate and Barrel. How cool is THAT?!

Stewey is back to his perky little self and sends his thanks for a speedy recovery. He's still not allowed to romp and play just yet (come to think of it, he never actually romps and/or plays), but methinks we will go outside for some fresh air later this afternoon. The sun is peeking out a bit and I want to take full advantage of it.

Have you read these?:

I never recommend books to people because I have strange taste and am always worried that the person to whom I recommend will wonder what the hell is wrong with my brain...but these books are the literary equivalent of bon bons made for you personally by your boyfriend Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Who is standing in your kitchen. Wearing nothing but an apron. (Hubba hubba).

I'm reading the latest installment on Ellison* and am really enjoying it. I confess, though, that I have to really slooooooowwwww myself down because the language can be very dense and full of hidden meanings and you'll blow right by them if you're not careful.

Today is paperwork day, which means I will be elbow deep in crap that has no meaningful impact on anything at all, and I will have murdered several large trees before the day is done. I've developed a rather nasty habit of tossing the mail into a big basket and then dealing with it all at once, so the time it will take to wade through the ads for new furnaces and chiropractors to get to the electric bill is going to really butter my biscuits. Better load up on provisions (read: cookies) to get through it all.

Happy Hump Day!

*Ellison is the name of my Kindle.

  1. Looooove Jasper Fforde! Excellent reading choice. I've stuck to Tuesday Next, so haven't tried his others yet.

And, I love Cherry Cordial - wish I was talented enough to complete it myself. When I saw it in your WIP list, I hoped you'd finish it soon so I can admire it.

  3. Glad to hear that Master Stewey is on the mend!

I haven't read those books, but I might just have to take a gander at them now that you've recommended them.

Cherry Cordial is looking good! I am so into pinks and chocolates right now!

  4. You named your kindle? Explain or deny.

  5. I adore Jasper Fforde! Excellent recommendation to your devoted followers :)

Have you read the Nursery series? Just as irreverent... just as fun as Tuesday Next.

I haven't named my Kindle. Hmmm...

    Excellent progress on Cherry Cordial.

  6. Cherry Cordial is looking fab! And glad to hear Stewey is making a good recovery. As for mail and bills, I literally stand over the kitchen trash can each day after I check the mail and immediately throw away whatever is not important, which is usually 90 percent! By the way, where did you get that coffee mug? I love it. So simple and to the point. I have an obsession for coffee mugs.

  7. Ellison? Really? At school that's a machine we use to cut letters and shapes for bulletin boards, etc. You can see how it's difficult to relate it to a Kindle, but whatever, Miss Coni.

I'm loving Cherry Cordial. Three projects in three weeks! You amaze me.

  8. I will have to try Jasper Fforde. I hardly ever meet a book I don't like, but it is nice to have recommendations. 3 finishes already!!! You are smokin'!! I am glad Stewey feels better. We deal with our paperwork the same way you do. Every time I think to myself it would be so much easier to deal with things as they come in. I hope it goes quickly for you.

  9. I haven't read Jasper Fforde, but his wife, Katie Fforde, is one of my favorite authors. I'll have to try Jasper. (And I'll have to name my Kindle).

  10. You're really cranking out the finishes this year! YGG! I love seeing what you're working on.

Never read any of those books, but I'll have to look them up next time I'm at the bookstore. One can never have enough books!

  11. Your phrase "elbow deep in crap that has no meaningful impact on anything at all" is how my day at work has gone so far. Just reading that in your blog has lightened my mood some though; thanks for that!

Love Cherry Cordial. I have that in my pile-o-stuff to do along with the threads and canvas. And if those books are ANYTHING like JDM being in your kitchen with nothing but an apron and a smile, I'm soooo looking to add those to Kindle list tonight!

  12. I love Jasper Fforde's books. They are definitely different and I'm delighted to see that you and your followers like him as well. I've never thought of naming my Kindle but you have given me food for thought. I'm looking forward to seeing the new Stitch and Zip for Kindles. I've read about them on several shop blogs. Best to you and Master Stewey!

  13. Cherry Cordial is looking faboo. I have to admit that watching you do so many canvas projects has had me at my LNS kitting up a project that I bought a few years ago..... Glad Stewey is on the mend!

  14. Since I have "Carmen Garmin", I totally understand "Ellisen Kindle". Guys name their cars so we can name our stuff too.
Glad to hear Stewey is better, and Cherry Cordial? MMMMMMM.

  15. Cherry Cordial is looking great.

I'm going to be contrary and admit I'm not a Jasper Fforde fan. Tons of people recommended Thursday Next to me and I did finish the Eyre Affair. It was enjoyable but I won't look for the rest. *Ducks and hides from the enraged mob*

  16. Hi Coni,

Don't question the finishes, just stitch! LOL!!!

Actually what might be helping your stitching is that large mug of java. :-)

Hope you were able to get outside today with Stewey. We've had a bit warmer weather the last few days but snow and ice is heading our way on Friday. Sigh...

I'm now laughing as the word verification is "minfail". Why am I laughing, with teenagers I've heard for years "epicfail" so a "minfail" has me laughing. Need to go share that with the kids. LOL!

  17. Does eeryone have a Kindle but me? Do you really like them that much? Is it really worth the cost? Should I buy now or wait for the new model? What is the stitch and zip?

    Beautiful stitching as always!
    Glad Stewey is feeling better.
Enjoy the sun - it's to rain tomorrow.

  19. I love the Thursday Next books! They're worth it just for Granny who must read the 10 worst books of all time before she can die. And that's such a minor part of the plots. I will admit that I had a hard time getting into the first book in the series (The Eyre Affair?), but when I got the audio book, I became a fan.

Ellison, huh? And I don't even have a Kindle.

  20. The Jasper Fforde books are great! Did you know there's a fifth one? I'm reading that one right now.

And I have to say, yours is my favorite stichy blog to follow!
