Today is an even BETTER day, since I put the final stitches into "Shenandoah Spring" moments ago:
Shenandoah Spring
DebBee's Designs
18ct. mono canvas in light blue
Watercolours, DMC floss and #8perle, Neon Rays, Kreinik #4 and #8 braid
When I finished this section, all I could hear in my head was Donkey's voice (from Shrek), saying "I'm making WAFFLES!"):
This is the center of the piece and was stitched all the way back in April of 2008. What the heck took me so long to finish this one?
I used Caron Watercolours "Seaglass" for this one, as well as DMC 504 and 503. The Neon Rays colors were N62 and N88, and then Kreikik braid in 3214 added the sparkle. I can only imagine what this one would look like in a different color pallette...maybe somthing like a rich, deep blue, or even a combination of brilliant reds. The imagination wanders...
What to stitch next is still rattling around in my brain. I might pick up those LHN ornaments and get a jump on those, or maybe finish the Merry Christmas piece from Raymond Crawford. Or I could pull out any of the billion and a half Laura J. Perin's I have and have fun with them, or maybe even do a little crewel piece?
It's nice to have such a dilemma!
Very pretty! Thanks for sharing what you got done.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the finish and also on getting all the Christmas decorations down and organized. I hate that job....it's fun putting everything up, but taking it all down, not so much. :(
SS is gorgeous! I love the colors. Thanks to Stewey's diatribe from earlier this week, I too finished taking down and putting away the Christmas stuff. Thanks Stewey!
ReplyDeleteThat's so pretty. I may have to add it to a very long list of projects I must stitch in this lifetime! Congrats!
ReplyDeletebeautiful!
ReplyDeleteI hope that in future, in my counry I could buy patterns and beautiful threads for needlepoint too :)
Congrats on a great finish. I love that green
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!! I loves the WAFFLES! O to dream of getting all the housework done AND finishing so many wonderful pieces of needlework. You inspire me. Can't wait to see what's next.
ReplyDeleteYour work is beautiful as always. The colours are perfect - and you are right a completely different look would be achieved with a bright pallette.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this design! Congrats on the magnificent finish!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteThe crowd is in the stands. They start stamping their feet. The cheer goes up. "LAURA! LAURA! LAURA!" Maybe it's just my canvas mood, but I want more Laura Her Very Self. Her patterns are just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteOur Christmas decorations are down, but then again we don't have Stewey, so this year they never went up. But I did do a load of wash yesterday -- on the boat, always an adventure.
We just finished watching all of West Wing. What next? What next? MI-5? Hard to find any dialogue that good in movies or television. (Yup, watched The American President and Charlie Wilson's War, too.)
Beautiful! You did have a good day!
ReplyDeleteMy my...that is stunning!! You make the nicest stuff!! Good job..Faye
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous! It's one of many I have admired and hope to tackle.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful piece! Clearly, the ageing process (as in fine wines) made it turn out so wonderful. At least that's what I tell myself about all the projects I've started and left languishing. They're not UFOs, they're ageing!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish!! It's gorgeous. I love the color of it!
ReplyDeletepretty
ReplyDelete-as always-
looking forward to the next choice
;0)
Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish! Isn't it a great feeling trying to decide what to stitch next? I think that is more fun sometimes than the actual stitching.
ReplyDeleteHave a great evening.

Gorgeous finish! The colours are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWow!! It's beautiful Coni! Congrats on another wonderful finish! :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice finish. Glad you survived Stewey's to do list too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish!!!
ReplyDeletePretty! I think in deep plum would be pretty.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the finish - it looks great!
ReplyDeleteYour work is beautiful and inspring....I'm a dyed in the wool cross stitcher, but after seeing your lovely canvases I'm very tempted to try a few!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it is beautiful "in spring"....It is also inspiring!
ReplyDeleteUm... did you intentionally leave out the last stitches on the 'eyeball' shaped area in the bottom right-hand corner? It looks different then the others in the row? *hides*...
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous though... *goes back into hiding*...
Congrats on the finish, it's really lovely! While I love green, all shades, I'm thinking about it in different colors as well. Great... now I have to buy that and waffles too!
ReplyDeleteConi, this is gorgeous! A lovely finish for the new year!!
ReplyDeleteOnce again you are making me want to add to my stash. This is a beautiful finish. If you feel up to doing this in another color, I am sure your readers would love to see the results...
ReplyDeleteI could just stare at this piece for hours and still not see everything. Great Job!
ReplyDeletehugs

Hi Coni,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and Very Pretty!
DD and I started laughing out loud at the donkey comment about making waffles. LOL!
I've been reading you for a long time and seeing your comments on other blogs and I have a thought about being at the "Cool Kids Table". I think of it as being at the "Fun Kids Table" instead of the "Cool Kids Table" as I'm not sure if they actually were having fun over there. I rather be at the table that was laughing and having a good time in spite of their percieved social standing. Well, that's where you usually found me. LOL!
My Holiday decorations are coming down slowly this year as I strained a back muscle. :-( So DD, with DH's and DS's assistance, is taking them down for me. Yay!!!
Have a wonderful week! :-)

So gorgeous! Congratulations on you finish!
ReplyDeleteA beatiful finish!
ReplyDeleteToo, too pretty! Really pretty.
ReplyDeletewhat a very pretty piece.
ReplyDeleteNormally, while I can admire canvaswork pieces, they don't make me want to run right out and buy one. This one, however, did. Not that I'm going to do it, but I really, really want to.
