SUMMER SCHOOL

Since I have been left unsupervised all Summer,  I've been trying to occupy my time wisely, and not fritter it away on Housewives or doomscrolling.

(Mission accomplished-ish.)

I am still really enjoying long reading sessions in the morning, and have almost made my way through the introduction of King Lear after reading the actual play twice. As for Villette...she is my before-bed reading, and I am taking her slowly and loving every page.

For the life of me, I just can't seem to regain the stitching speed and stamina I had in my younger days. I can get about a half hour completed before something hurts or distracts or goes awry and I have to do something else for a bit.

(Phooey.)

Rich returns one week from today, so I had better get out of lazy daisy Spinster mode and move into lazy daisy Too Old To Be A Girlfriend mode. Not much difference between the two other than what causes me to holler at the TeeVee.

I hope your very own Summer has been...whatever you wanted it to be. Are you like me in that Fall starts on September 1st?

  1. In North Florida we have one day of fall weather in December, then it is back to a late summer of heat and humidity until winter arrives in January. Hate this weather here!

  2. "Fall" in SoCal usually means HOT weather and/or dry, hot Santa Ana winds...unlike the Falls of my childhood in Connecticut...more's the pity...but I wouldn't want it to snow in SoCal, so I guess I'm stuck with HOT fall weather..🥵

  3. Funny, I said to someone an hour ago that my fall begins Sept 1, no matter what the calendar says or the weather is like. I was born on that date too, so that makes me right.

  4. All you happy people in the Northern Hemisphere, please spare a thought for those of us in the Southern, where winter has been going for what feels like at least eleven months. Some schools allow the kids to wear civvies (ordinary clothes, not their school uniform) on September 1st to celebrate Spring, and the girls always turned up looking stunning but the boys were in sports shorts and elderly t-shirts; but it was always a cold day and they were always better known for their goose-bumps than their clothes.

  5. Yes, Fall begins on September 1st just like winter begins on December 1st, and so on. Your stitch is looking mighty good, Coni!

  6. No I am definitely in the Autumn starts on 21st September camp. Spring starts at the solstice in March, Winter on the longest day and Summer on the shortest day. As a gardener it is folly to start too early and why would you shorten Summer by starting Autumn early.

    1. Because I love Fall Most Of All? Summers in the US South are far too long, so I'll pretend it's fall on Sept 1.

  7. Absolutely !
Fall starts September first. I've been watching Lindy stitches to see all the new things, so I can get something wonderful to stitch on in September : )

  8. I prefer the calendar date for fall due to gardening plans and climate. We're usually pretty hot into September. Brown leaves are starting to drop though so it's coming.

  9. Summer can’t be over until I am back from my beach cottage on Sept. 5

  10. Fall is the best season, and it is way too short. Now people are in such a hurry for Christmas that Fall is over before we've even had Thanksgiving.

  11. Mazaplay really offers a great mix of sports betting and casino games in one place. What I like most is how simple the interface is and how smooth the experience feels, even for new players. The live updates and wide range of game categories make it exciting, and the competitive odds add extra value. It also feels secure and reliable, which is very important for long-term users. Overall, Mazaplay is doing a great job of combining entertainment with a safe and responsible gaming approach.
