I LOVE IT WHEN A LESSON COMES OUT OF IT

One of the things I've learned during this little for-ay into diamond painting is PREPARATION IS KEY.

I watched a lot of the YouTube when I started doing DP, and two terms I learned were "kit up" and "kit down". (Or words similar to that effect.)  It means exactly what you'd think...before playing with a new piece, you have to take the time to organize all of the parts so that you have them readily at hand.

In DP,  you need to un-bag all of the little bits and label the colors so that you can easily select the one you need at the right time.

I've translated this into my stitchy life, and I find that it's yielding great results. By taking the time to set up my threads, I can enjoying stitching more by just selecting the one that I need. My Bitsy Bob (the thingie you see in the bottom pic with the threads in circles on it), makes things super organized and tidy.

I like that.

So, Dearies...I'm ready to start stitching for the day, and after dinner (a salad with grilled salmon on top), I'm going to see if I can finish my DP.

Happy Weekend! Do something that blows your skirt up and come tell me all about it!

  1. Plan the work, work the plan! One of DH's fave sayings. Nothing much going on here in SoCal. The weather has turned very spring-like which is typical for us here. Doesn't mean winter has left...we could still see some rain and chilly weather...but pretty much we're well on our way to warmer temps. Marketing is done, still working on the crochet doily...maybe I'll pick up the cross stitch later this week...hopefully the 🐸 has left the building!😃🙃

  3. Enjoying grandkids this weekend. Might continue teaching my grand daughter to stitch. And we will plant the garden, rain or not.

  4. Being uber prepared does make the process go so much smoother. I try with my needlepoint... and I have way too many going right now. It's the putting away when it's all done that I can mildly procrastinate on. Still working a large Susan Roberts nutcracker and good sized Halloween Day of the Dead couple. Also polishing off several small ornaments including a Jello box and a Land O Lake butter box.

  5. And Coni, some of the lessons we learn from our craft can be carried over into our daily lives. While the husband was monitoring the removal of the old shed roof and the putting on the new one, I was attending a memorial service for a friend on Saturday. Happy Sunday!
