My Bean Team was actually pretty happy with all of my labwork and such, but I have managed to gain 30 pounds since transplant.
Thirty.
Pounds.
Unfortunately, Dr Yaqub was my guy yesterday...not Dr Goggins. Dr Yaqub is quiet and very lovely, and he tells me things like "Please don't worry, Coni. Almost everybody gains significant weight after transplant", whereas Dr Goggins comes in screeching on two wheels and hollers obscenities until I wake up and realize how stupid I've been.
So, no tough love for me yesterday, but I did have a good twelve hours of beating myself up before coming up with a plan.
Back to Operation GO we go, but I think we might need to rename it. GO was for getting to Dr Goggins weight to get the GO for transplant. I got the GO...now I need to GO BACK.
I've prayed every night since October 1st of last year that I would be worthy of this blessing. Now it's time to go to work to do just that.
Happy Friday, Dearies!
You can do this! You have had a great blessing and now is the time to get back on track. We are all here to support you in anyway we can. Listen...did you here that...that's all of us cheering you on! Dont beat yourself up for being human.
ReplyDeleteWooHoo! on Baby Bean continuing to do well, and you for taking care of it. Continued thanks to the donor and family for the gift to you and whoever else they may have donated bits to.
ReplyDeleteNot saying the weight gain isn't distressing to you, BUT - when the medical team says that hasn't been their biggest worry over the last months, I say don't start beating yourself up over it.
Coni, you can do this. But don't beat yourself up over the gain. Okay? Remember baby steps go a long way in turning to the needed changes. Thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteI could join you in a 10lb challenge and when that is accomplished we can go for the next 10 and then the next. I know you can do it and you would inspire me. You GO girl.
ReplyDeleteYou've got this, Coni!
ReplyDeleteI'm rooting for your Coni!
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely worthy of the blessing. Your concern about your numbers proves it. Please stop beating yourself up about the gain. Your body is still trying to figure all those post transplant drugs out.
ReplyDeleteHave a terrific Fourth of July!

Coni, your job has been caring for the “bean”, and you are. Be kind to yourself, and with time you will be able to shed a few pounds. The freedom this has brought you, is wonderful. What a well-deserved blessing. Be kind and patient. You’ll make it happen. We are here for you, and just keep your hands busy stitching!! God bless you.

You can do it. Maybe think of it as operation Go Girl! So you can go on with you life and make the most of that incredible gift you received.
ReplyDeleteNew goal, same result - a healthier Coni. One day at a time and we're here to encourage you! Debby in CO
ReplyDeleteYou got this!! I love Donna's suggestion of Operation Go Girl! :)
ReplyDeletePlease do NOT get undernourished so it puts any kind of stress on your bean. I know you would never intend to do that... but please listen to both Dr.'s the one that screams and the one that comforts, uhmmm this kinda sounds like our own brains doesn't it? Hugs Ruth in Oxnard CA<
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of "Go Back" - you're living for your new life and new adventures and new health.... how about "Go get `em" or "Beanie not Weinie" or "Sassypants Express"..... you know, something with a little Tina Turner attitude 😎
