At exactly 11:45 last night I finished Prairie Moon's Holiday Farm!
I think I stitched this on the called for linen with all of the called for threads, and that I started this sometime around 2005 or 2006. If all goes according to plan, I will take this to the Hobby Lobby for a mat and a frame.
Well, I sat down in the cube room studio this afternoon and gathered all of the pieces for the Official Spinster Stitcher January Stitchy Reunion basket. Basically, I went through this here blog and wrote a list of everything I was stitching in January from 2009 to 2018 and pulled anything that was not completed yet.
I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I actually finished more than I thought I did! Here are the things that remained unfinished:
2009:
Everything finished!
2010:
BRD It's Cold Outside
Big Red Sunflower
2011:
Everything finished!
2012:
Everything finished!
2013:
Shepherd's Bush Come Tarry
Richfield Designs needlepoint floral
2014:
The Drawn Thread Love & Wisdom
2015:
Everything finished!
2016:
Everything finished!
2017:
PS Alphabets
RM Winter Quakers
2018:
PS January
GP Red Velvet Cake
WM class
After all of that, I decided that nothng on the list really blows my skirt up, so I decided on a new start.
(OK...go ahead. You know you want to. Roll those eyes right up to heaven and say you told me so.)
I'm going to give this a go:
I was also a little fidgety, so I organized my needle minder collection:
And put my Ginghers next to my stitchy chair and switched out my stitchy tool box:
It's 6:30, Dearies, so I had better get my heiney in gear or the first day of the new year will pass without me putting a needle in my hand...yikes!
We're off to a good start! I hope the year ahead blesses us with all good things! Come tell me all about your wishes and what's in your stitchy basket!
I should do that as well, but the new and shiny patterns keep calling me! I must finish Death by Cross Stitch before I start anything else!
ReplyDeleteI love how your mind works!! I have knitted today but maybe I should pull out Wool Gatherer. Thanks for posting. I always look forward to your blog!
ReplyDeleteLove all your projects, but Brrr ,It's
ReplyDeleteCold Outside looks wonderful. Hope to see it done at some point
Congrats on the gorgeous finish Coni. Did you by chance forget a zig zaggy section on the bottom left? Love all of your projects.
ReplyDeleteLinda
Not a zig zaggy. A checkerboard.
DeleteThank you, Dearies! I never would have seen that! I added the daye there instead of more ziggy zaggy checkerboards!
Deleteregarding Nova. A good goal is one square a day. It's not exactly an "all at once" piece. Relax and enjoy it. It's meant to be a peaceful piece.
ReplyDeleteConi, I personally would love to see the Richfield needlepoint project finished. It looks spectacular!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on discovering that you'd finished so many more projects than you expected. What a lovely surprise. And the January basket holds some lovely things. I didn't roll my eyes about the new start - I was tickled that you gave yourself the freedom to do what takes your fancy rather than making yourself feel obliged to work on a UFO. Yaaaaay you.

I love the big red sunflower and Richfield piece -- would like to see them finished! Not that my vote counts!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I think Linda and Deborah are right. I didn't see it at first, but now I see a lack of symmetry.

ReplyDeleteKnowing our Coni, the checkerboard in the lower left is already finished.... Have a splendid New Year, replete with most of your wishes fulfilled and brimming over with
ReplyDeletejoy and well being.
Congratulations on the number of years with all January starts finished. IF I had such a list, I rather doubt any of my new starts would be done. And what is New Year's day for but a new start!!!
ReplyDeleteIn my basket - Mirabilia angel, floral needlepoint, CCC fractal bookmark, 7 little sled ornaments, Home of a needleworker, and my 2019 new project, My big toe 23rd Psalm. Happy New Year Coni.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how long Nova has been lurking smugly at the back and the bottom of my cupboard! I ordered it and First Steps at the same time, and did four First Stepses in four different colour combinations. They've been helping my louge furniture to be soft and exciting for long years ... but my problem with Nova once I took a long look is that there's an awful lot of reds and pinks and just a quick swipe of green. Not enough blue either, and precious little yellow. And I'm basically a yellow, green and blue person, so I was faced with the choice of either tweaking huge swathes of colours or ... dunno really; waiting till I felt better, I suppose. And I never have. Maybe one day ... ? I look forward to your progress and will live it vicariously. All the best for the stitching, the medical situation, all your friendships and even the weather! We're all cheering you on.
ReplyDeleteWell done you! I am a knitter but similar rules apply... getting stuff finished and doing something new and fabulous. You are an inspiration Coni. Happy and healthier New Year to you and your JB 🤩
ReplyDeleteI think you can be forgiven for last year's UFOs - you haven't been well! But how lovely are the ones left behind - the Winter Quakers is soooo pretty! And now you are venturing into patchwork LOL! Welcome to the dark side - almost! The UFOs are a lot bigger - ask me how I know! Meanwhile my little cross stitch birdies are getting chubbier!
ReplyDeletehi Connie loved the Richfields floral needlepoint design , so rich and vib , did it take long to do?
ReplyDeletehope you are feeling better i have been reading your blog for sometime now & even went back a few years to get a better picture,
i cried and cried when i read about Master Steweys passing over.
Happy New Year From England
& to Better Health & joy in 2019

Hi, Roo! Once I selected the stitches, the Richfield seemed to go very quickly. It's a shame it has languished in the wip basket so long...I'll try to fix that!
DeleteImpressive! I reorganized my stash and had a slight freak out when I realized how many WIP's I had. This will be good motivation to help me with my 19 for 2019 (borrowed from someone on Needlepoint Nation). Thank you!
ReplyDeleteConi, I admire that you pulled the pieces you have started, but not finished through the years and then decided to start something new. If it doesn't make your skirt blow up, then you should work on something that does. Be happy about your stitching!
ReplyDeleteI didn't notice the missing checkerboard at first. Taking a second look I saw it. Won't take long to add it.
ReplyDelete"After all of that, I decided that nothing on the list really blows my skirt up, so I decided on a new start."
ReplyDeleteAhahahahahahahahah! If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: you crack me up.
Oh my goodness!! So many beautiful things here! I am so impressed with the wide variety of projects you've taken on, they're all beautiful!~
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing your WIP's! Thank you. My favorite is Winter Quaker it is stunning and you are so so close :) But I know how tempting a new start can be. I am going to try REALLY HARD to finish Wip's this year!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing Holiday Farm! It is lovely! And I am loving everything in your January basket and the new start you picked out, very much looking forward to seeing some close ups of your progress on it :) Happy New Year!
