This is the Coldwell Banker "Hoops" ad. The idea is that a family is looking for a house and the realtor tells the little kid that if he puts up a basketball hoop he'll make lots of new friends.
Mission accomplished, from the looks of it, right?
BUT ARE MY JERSEY BOY AND I THE ONLY TWO PEOPLE ON THE PLANET WHO NOTICED THAT THE BLOODY BASKETBALL HOOP IS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF A FREAKIN WINDOW?!??
So my questions are...
1. Is the kid's hockey net in front of the big ass dining room window to the far right?
2. Does the realtor's brother in law own a window repair company?
I swear you can't make this stuff up. And, to make matters much much worse, I suspect that Coldwell Banker paid an advertising agency about a bazillion dollars to make this stupid thing, and that (given its placement during the NCAA tournament) it's the equavalent of a Super Bowl ad tor them.
Oey...
My hubby and I also joked about the placement of the basketball hoop and who owned the window repair company!
ReplyDeleteI had not seen that, but then I'm studiously totally ignoring all things sports. If I were looking at a house owned by someone that daft, I'd be wondering what other sketchy things were done to the house.
ReplyDeleteI remember my grandmother saying many, many years ago that she didn’t care how good a product was, if the ad was ridiculous (and annoyed her) she wouldn’t purchase the product. This one definitely would’ve applied! C’mon people.....
ReplyDeleteI often notice sheer stupidity in ads that they expect us idiots to buy into, such as 20-something perfectly beautiful models using wrinkle cream. And now women who are 30-something talking about how happy they are with their bladder pads, and they even model them for the viewer and they have to die for figures. Right.
ReplyDeleteBest reply: "Real women don't look like that."
DeleteI hadn't seen that ad, but they really should have someone with a bit of common sense "proofing" them before saying yes we will go with that.
ReplyDeletehahaha! I had not seen the ad, but it is too funny!
ReplyDeleteHave a Happy Easter!
Thank you! I said the same thing and hubby rolled his eyes!
ReplyDeleteI remember a political ad in Tennessee that showed a gubernatorial candidate and his wife strolling arm and arm through a pasture among peacefully grazing cows. When they were checking how the ad went over, one old lady said "I won't vote for no fool who won't look down in a cow pasture!"
ReplyDeleteI love it when “regular people” spot the idiotic stuff the highly paid ad folk are congratulating themselves about.
ReplyDeleteIt is a strange ad all the way around.
ReplyDeleteIt was the first thing I gawked at, even BEFORE I read your comments!!! Also, who would play basketball and leave the garage door open??? Like playing tennis without a surrounding fence! Like many new software programs, the powers-that-be never did a "beta" test on the photo to get feedback from real homeowners. OY!
