PPPPSSSSTTTT....

Oh you bad girls, you!  Thinking that I must be up to no good with Mr. Big on a September Friday.

The truth of the matter is that he worked on his laptop contraption and I went to the beauty parlor to see if we could make me look like at least half a woman.

This meant wax.

Lots and lots of wax.

Brows.  Lip.  Chin.

My God...the inhumanity of it all!

Can I just say that this whole womanly maintenance thing is for the birds?!  For the last 51 years I have considered a good scrubbing, brushed teeth, and clean pajamas all that was required to keep me somewhat decent.  Stewey was well accostomed to no makeup, hair in a pony tail, and winter legs.

But now?

Between the proper facial moisturizing, the mascara applying, and the double-checking to see if my underclothes are on right side in....I am positively exhausted.

We're going to head out for dinner now, so I better go find some damn lipstick.

Pray for me, Spinster Nation.  Methinks we're gonna need a bigger boat!

  7. I am so happy for you. I am a late bloomer, did not marry until age 39. had my only child the same year. Had previously endured bad, lonely, relationships that went no-where and even though I knew that, still clung to them because that was all I had. But then I met a wonderful farmer. Life is 180 degrees different in every way. I hope I deserve it. I hope it happens to you.

  10. My power has been out for days after Hurricane Irma. I've got it back now, have just caught up on you, and wow! You go gir! Sounds good like you're having fun. So glad you've found love. It's worth the price of all the maintenance!

  11. Ok, now and forever after he shall be known as Mr. Wonderful. :) There is only one Mr. Big (Chris Noth on Sex and the city) and his character was a little flawed...dreamy but flawed, nonetheless. I am rooting for you and Mr. W!

  12. Everything except the waxing sounds excellent, and at least somewhat worth the agony. I got very fed up with wax at a very early age and discovered the marvels of the epilator, which buzzes encouragingly and is admittedly quite dramatically painful for the first couple of times, but then one acclimatises or it does and all is well. Very quick, and costs about the same as a couple of sessions of good old wax, plus I can do the deed in my own time and it takes five minutes. Also, it doesn't seem to lead to ingrowing hairs, unlike wax.

I suppose that since your life is whizzing happily in new dimensions, we won't be seeing that much stitching for a while at least. Pity. But rather you happy and not stitching than you not so happy and stitching. And you'll find a new routine in due course and fit in both your, ahem, hobbies. Looking forward to updates!

  13. Coni, you are going through so much right now. I'm glad you've found someone and hope he brings you the support you need to get through everything. But if you are starting a relationship that is more than friendship, please go slow. You don't need anymore heart break down the line. And I'm sure some of our community will want to slap me up side the head for saying this, but suddenly this guy appears after years? What does he want? Just reel in the giddy feeling once and awhile and look to see if the motives are true.
