SATURDAY SPINSTER BLISS

But first...a matter of housekeeping.

"Unknown", thanks to a lovely email, is now known to me, and although I do appreciate the fact that Spinster Nation rallied to my defense and made me feel like Taylor Swift Her Very Self with her very own Girl Squad...please re-holster your weapons and save them for another day or whenever Betty rears her pointy little head again.

Unknown is actually one of us and is a friend that I have corresponded with for several years now.  And as I said in my email to her, I feel thankful that she was kind enough and brave enough to check me on something that she felt strongly about.  She, too, is undergoing some big hard things at the moment, and I would imagine that in a moment of frustration decided to let her keyboard do the talking.  She feels terrible the she did so and has apologized profusely and I have accepted that apology.  Period.

So..thank you for your strident defense, but for now, dear friends...all is well.

And as for me handling my life with grace and dignity...all I can say about that is, thank your lucky stars that you are one of the poor souls (like Misses Charlene, Jane, Connie, Beth, Katy, Chris, Margaret, Myrtis, Andrea, Julia, Cathy or Joyce) that has to put up with my incessant blathering about this that and the other on and on ad nasuem amen.

(But I will admit that I read your comments sometimes and almost feel like I might have a shot at semi-normal well-adjustedness any day now!)

Today was stitching with Missie Jane at her church, followed by a wonderful afternoon with Miss Charlene and Miss Beth.  I made it home a few minutes ago and am pondering a float in the pool before tonight's stitching will commence.

I'm playing with Summer at Cherry Hill and still really enjoying it.  Here's a little progress pic:

So that's the report for today.  I hope your Saturday is swell and that your needles are flying!  Come tell me all about it!

  1. I guess the thought of hundreds and hundreds of people storming the castle armed with very sharp pointy things such as scissors, laying tools and needles is enough to "scare straight" any one of us that had a bad day and then decided to take it out anonymously on someone else. We all have those days BUT we don't all take them out publicly. However with that being said - if she is okay with you (and apologize made & accepted)she is okay we me and probably the rest of us! Onward & Upward - for me I need to get stitching on a stocking even though I have something else I am dying to start. I have never watched Ray Donovan and it is a long series so it should get me through the end of stitching the stocking! Have a great evening Ms Gadabout Spinister - it is good that you are getting out amongst friends again and getting a grip on the new normal for now.

Love that Cherry Hill... I completed all the Christmas
Ornaments (have to get them finished) and will start
the Quaker Paris next for a gift. Your getting out
among kindred spirits and floating in the pool bodes
for an enjoyable weekend...good for you.

  12. Fear Coni, I had four children, loved them dearly, but some days my feelings were far oherwise! Thank God for stitching although that can be frustrating too. Stitched yesterday, frogged it last night, restarted it took it out again this morning, sigh! Oh,well...

  14. Ah, Coni! So happy to hear that "Unknown" has the courage to admit her error and you are gracious to accept her apology! That is how our world should work and thank you both for setting such a good example for us all. I am working on a Hands on Design pattern (a freebiez) of To the Beach and loving every minute of it. Taking the grandkids to a waterpark here in virginia today then back home to the Jersey shore tomorrow. Wish you could visit. You could sit and stitch on the beach with your feet in the water all day long!! Let me know if you ever decide you want to hop a plane & fly East. I have extra bedrooms, lots of stitching lights & toys and 5 miles of free beach!! Have a wonderful relaxing Sunday!!

  15. Finally back on line after a full day of flying and a full day of recovery time. I remember when air travel was a pleasant experience. Apparently I am ancient.
It seems I missed a bit of excitement around here. Glad all is resolved and right with the world again.
Cherry Hill looks lovely, but I do continue to wait eagerly for the Red Velvet Cake piece to show up. What, I have a fixation on carbohydrates? You bet I do.
So, people are going nuts about the eclipse, and seem to be completely ignoring the fact that this is Sunday and there will be another episode of Game of Thrones tonight, and the eclipse isn't "on" until Monday afternoon. (Remember to view it safely, do not directly at the sun, use viewing glasses or make your own viewer with a shoebox and pin.) So, I wonder who dies tonight....it is just not the least bit safe to play the official drinking game while watching. Alcohol poisoning is a sure thing.
    And now, piles of laundry....
Oh, and another invitation. If you would like to come for a visit, I am close by Winterthur, and it is possible, with enough notice and planning, to arrange a special tour there, concentrating on textiles and needlework pieces in their collection, with a very knowledgeable docent. Tempting? Hope so. Have guest room, with private ensuite bathroom. Can cook...do sometimes. And Miss Ruth of Bedecked and Bedazzled is within driving distance, and 5 minutes away from my older son. Yup, great outings. Can't vouch for my company but I can promise stitchy stuff.

Must get to laundry, prayers continue my dear, enjoy your Sunday and stitching and pool time.

  16. If only more people in this world were forgiving like you. Could you imagine how wonderful that would be?!

  17. So glad that all is well and forgiven. Take care of yourself and don't forget to rest...love your project.

  18. So glad that everything has been worked out. No one is perfect. Sorry to hear that Unknown is also having a rough time. Someone I know and respect often says that the best measure of the level of one's consciousness is how quickly we can come back into balance within ourselves and our relationships with other people. Sounds like you and Unknown are doing fine. Blessings to you both. 😄
