HERE'S WHAT COCKY WILL GET YA'

So which would you rather have, recovery from a root canal or a splitting sinus migraine?

How about recovery from a root canal AND a splitting sinus migraine? Ugh. Somebody pass me the Tylenol, will you please? Oh, who am I kidding? Screw it. Pass the vodka.

I went to bed last night thinking to myself "Gee, I wonder what everybody complains about. Root canals are no big deal. As a matter of fact, I've never felt better." Somewhere around 4am life changed. And not for the better.

Don't cry for me, Argentina. I will survive. (How the hell did I just manage to incorporate TWO song titles into a blog post, hm?) I am going to plant my fanny in the Happy Chair today and hope that Stewey stays in another room. (He is experiencing some 'technical issues' with gas today and I am about on the floor with the stench of it all. How the hell does something that small manage a stink that big?)

Oh, man is he going to have my head on a stick when he reads this. Just pretend like I didn't say anything, OK? I can't endure another lecture from him about "respecting his boundaries", nor will I sign another bloody confidentiality statement from his "legal team". A girl's gotta' blog what a girl's gotta' blog, after all.

I did start something new last night. Blackbird Designs "Strawberry Garden". I've had this forever, but I always put it back in the basket because of all of the lazy daisy stitching involved. I just never felt confident enough to give them a go, but last night, armed with Novocaine, I went for it. Here's the result:

I'm stitching this on 28ct. Barn Owl linen, which is gorgeous stuff. I'm not sure if they make it anymore, but they should, because it's lovely. Too bad the picture doesn't do it justice. Can I blame the weather? And I'm not sure if I'm actually executing the lazy daisies properly, but I am NOT going to frog 'em. These little bast****s were hard enough for me to figure out the first time.

Uh oh. Better run. Here comes Stewey waving a clipboard. Methinks he's going to point out that I am infringing on his computer time. Just remember, if he calls you about the "information" I shared above.....mum's the word, K?

  1. I have been working on Strawberry Garden off and on for over a year now...not one lazy dazy stitch in to date! Hope you can inspire me.

    Hope you feel better soon.

  3. Birds of a Feather linens are now apparently being made by Linens by Design. Barn Owl is a terrific color for this piece.

  4. Nothing like a little--no, a lot!--of cross stitch to help you recuperate! The new start is nice.

  5. Looks perfectly alright to me. The Lazy Daisy stitches, I mean.
Stewey should more concerned with global warming issues - would perhaps contribute less...
Wishing a speedy recovery from whatever your are ailing from.

  6. I hope you feel better soon! I have migraines as well, and they are AWFUL.

As for Stewey, if you have any chewable Gas-X (or any other product with Simethicone), you can give him one to help with his "issues". That is what my vet recommends, and it has saved the day many a time with Kate, the aging, "pooting" mini schnauzer!

  7. Looks like your stash is turning into a SABLE - that's Stash Acquired Beyond Life Expectancy. Don't forget to include your COCKOO's. Those are your Class Originated Completely Kitted Old Objects. BTW, lateral file cabinets are an excellant way to file and catalog charts and kits.

HOS/lunch tomorrow sounds fabulous! Thanks for the invite! See you at 10:30, and I'm assuming that's central time?

  9. Hi Coni,

Eeechhh... Root canal and a sinus
    migraine... all at once?? Hope
you get to feeling better soon.
Did the Dentist give you Tylenol
3's to take for the pain??? That's
what I got when I had mine out.
    Lovely stuff.

    Your new BlackBird Designs start
looks like it'll be a pretty
project to stitch. Good luck with
all those lazy daisies. If you
don't know how to do them now
you sure will by the time you
    finish the project.

Love your post on the organizing
of your stitching stash. It looks
    wonderful all sorted, neat and
    tidy.

    So I was wondering....

I have to start going through
my library soon and sorting out
the books that I should pass on
    and putting things in order,
and getting rid of stuff that
    I have no room for.

Think you could come up and
    supervise and help organize??
We have a queen size bed in the
spare room, and Stewey is more
then welcome to come too, if he
    doesn't mind cats.

You like snow and cold temp-
    eratures, right??

    Just a thought.

    Cheers!

  10. Oh, this is such a wonderful sampler, and you're doing a marvellous job with the lazy daisy stitches as far as I can tellfrom this distance. I think you did a terrific job, what with the migraine, the root canal and the smelly hound.
