BACK TO THE PRIMROSE PATH

If I finish this tonight, it will be the third finish for me during the Olympics. Not bad, eh? Makes me almost happy that I gave up on the PROJECT THAT WILL NOT BE NAMED...EVER.

I'm filling in all of the trellis work with the little flowers. I almost got the outer border done last night, but realized that I still need to put little yellow buds on the tops of some stems. I should be able to do that pretty quickly and then on to the inside trellis!

I must confess that there is a part of me that wants to leave that inside trellis empty. The canvas has a marbleized effect, and I think it would be so pretty to let it show through. But that's a whole lotta' buds that would be left off, and I'm not sure if it will look right. I'll make Chrissy take a look at it and give me her unvarnished opinion.

Stewey's physical went swimmingly. He got an excellent report and Mommie Dearest was told to "keep doing whatever it is you're doing -- he's in great shape". Woo Hoo! I may be a lousy human being, but I'm a great Dog Mom! His little allergies have just started to pop up, so we're back on medicine for the time being and hopefully that will prevent it from getting too bad. Poor little guy....he's got seasonal allergies that make him just miserable about twice a year.

The happiest news was that the bill only came to $300, and that included all of his meds! And, with his insurance reimbursement, I think my portion will only be about $50. Just can't beat that. Here he is grabbing a power nap after his big day yesterday....see how he twists himself up like a little pretzel?

"Please, Mommie, I just need to have a little time to myself. Don't pick me up and kissy kiss me all day today. Can't you get a hobby or somthing?"

  1. Wow! Your needlepoint is stunning and I don't think you need to fill in the interior.... I'm sure it would look lovely though. But if you decided you "definitely" didn't want to fill int he interior now, you could go on to finish something else before the closing ceremonies and then once dawn breaks the day after the Games you could suddenly be stricken with the need to fill in more on Primrose. ;-)

  2. Yah know? I think the inside trellis looks DONE to me, especially since the canvas itself is so pretty. (Where were these pretty canvases twenty years ago when I was doing more needlepoint?) If you fill in the interior it will look just like the border. Sorta defeats the purpose of a border. We all want to see you stand up on the podium with a shiny medal.

  4. Coni! You have to tell me more about this doggy insurance. Buddy Lee needs it. I have to go have him fixed soon. His one little testicle never dropped and could become cancerous if it's not removed... Oh, AND we want him to stop humping us... lol.

  6. Your Primrose Path is gorgeous! I just love the textures on canvas work... it makes me want to take a little trip over to Needle Nest ASAP!

The center trellis looks perfect as it is, but you could fill it in partially, if you wanted to and still be able to see the beautiful marbelized fabric.

Beautiful stitching and congrats on your Olympic progress!

  7. Primrose Path is very beautiful without the inside being filled but I'm sure it will look lovely filled too! Personally I would leave it as it is to show off the lovely canvas!

  9. I think the canvas looks great as it is, maybe I need to check out what it "should" look like.
Glad Mr. Stewey got the thumbs up from the vet, but how does he sleep in that position! He is one weird, but very lovable, talking dog :)

  11. Your needlepoint is wonderful. May I ask where you get such a lovely canvas? Do you use the wooden bars with the pins to hold it tight? I remember doing this once to an ornament canvas piece years ago, but was wondering if one can get this online as I remember getting mine at a store that I can't visit any longer. (passed through on vacation)...

I love your sense of humor!
Cute puppy! I had pet insurance for my cats too back when I had them, it was a lifesaver because my one cat ended up with cancer in the leg and it had to be removed. The cancer was from his vaccines!
