IN WHICH WE GO TO BED BATH AND COMPLETELY BEYOND...

Today was kitchen hunting and gathering day, which means I have just returned from a whirlwind day of running hither and yon for this, that, and the other.

My new kitchen is approximately 1/5 the size of my current one, so there has been a fair amount of planning to determine exactly what will go and what will stay.  I carefully mapped out each cupboard and think I've got it whittled down sufficiently, but before I actually start packing I ran out to pick up a few odds and ends that I figured would come in handy.

It was young couple in love day at the Hoosierville BB&B, and I had such a ball watching as the bride-to-be flitted about chattering on and on about pepper grinders and placemats while her intended held the ray gun thingie looking like he would rather be getting a prostate exam.

Being a spinster means that I never got to do that whole "setting up house" thing, and I have to say, sometimes I feel a little sad about that.  I think I would have really enjoyed having a china pattern or flatware set to contemplate.  I thought I would do that when I built this house, but Dad got sick and then I got sick and then...it just never quite happened.

Well, I suppose that some day I might drag some poor soul around the BB&B, but in the meantime there are other things to occupy me.  I feel pretty good that I will be able to continue to channel my inner Ina...it just might take a minute to recombonulate myself in the new space.

Tomorrow is kitchen packing day, and then it's on to the linen closet, hall closet, and finally...bedroom closet and bathroom.  I will be completely finished packing by Friday so that I can go to Library Guild on Saturday and rest and then do one last run through before the moving van gets here the following week.

I can't believe it's almost here!

  1. Immediately after any self-respecting needlework shop on the danger list, is Bed, Bath and Way Beyond. You are indeed brave to venture into the great cavern filled with tempting mazes of fun things with which to play. Even the internets with Amazon Prime does not reach the danger level of BB&WB. Prayers continue......

  2. I tell all my single girlfriends to pick a china, flatware, crystal or whatever they desire and not wait for the guy! I understand why you didn't get around to doing it but if you want to then please think about doing it. You KNOW you deserve it! Another bonus is you don't have to get the guy's approval. You would be AMAZED at how many men want to weigh in on the choosing.

  6. Sounds like a good day for you. When all is settled and you are in your new home, why don't you go ahead and get a lovely place setting and flatware. A pattern that makes you giddy and drool over. It will be wonderful to have this to remind you of your new CS2! Hugs and prayers! Cindy from northern Illinois

  7. When you say what is going & what is staying - do you have some help that is going to clean out everything you are not going to take with you? Like someone to hold a garage sale for you or hire some kids from the college to take it to St. Vincent de Paul or Good Will? You still inspire me to keep cleaning out my stuff to lighten my load. Thanks for all your strength and inspiration you just keep passing on to all of us. Can't wait to see pictures of your new home. It does sound very nice with everything that is around you. Since God has a plan for all of us - I guess in his plan was to get Stewey in his new home so he could watch over you and you wouldn't have to find someone to take care of him once you are in the hospital and rehab after receiving your tune up and new part! God Bless -

  10. My hubby and I were just discussing the other day how everyone should have some sort of "shower" about every 10 to 15 years for the chance to go make a "wish list" for friends and family to shower you with new kitchen stuff. Stuff gets worn out...married or not...so a new kitchen, bathroom, or bedroom makeover every once in a while would be a great pick-me-up for anyone. You are doing great on your move preparations. --Andrea
