This entrance to the Basilica at the University if Notre Dame is known as the "God, Country, Notre Dame" door and was dedicated in 1924 as a memorial to those who gave their lives in World War I. In observance of the 100th anniversary of this dedication, a Field Mass will be said on Monday, as it was 100 years ago.
Let us always remember and honor those who gave their lives.
ReplyDeleteIt's splendid that ND and her community remember and honor those who gave their lives for freedom. Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteTwo of my great-uncles fought in that war and survived. They never talked about it. It was not America's war, and that makes your people's sacrifices precious and admirable. I salute them.
ReplyDeleteIt is so reassuring to see these Memorial traditions continued in
ReplyDeleteour Nation... Tonight's Washington viewing should also reinforce
the memory of and gratitude to those who gave their lives for our freedom...
