I HAVE ISSUES. CLEARLY. I DO. --- EDITED

In my defense, a good number of my Starbucks points were set to expire tomorrow. When I placed my order, the lovely barista said "Ms Rich, it looks like you have quite a few points, and several of them are going to expire soon, so why don't you pick out a lovely new sippy cup to add to your ridiculously huge collection, and then you can blog all about the fact that you have more sippy cups stuffed into your stupid little kitchen cart than most sippy cup stores have in them."

Seriously, I know it's sinful for me to own so many of these, but they really do make me insanely happy and I get my fair share of use out of them drinking my lemon water.

That's OK, isn't it?

Added: Hi, Betty! Lovely to hear from you again! Thank you for researching online to discover that these cups sell for big bucks on ebay, and for pointing out that you find me "disgusting" that I would flaunt such a huge purchase.

Um, Betty? I didn't pay anything for this cup. I also didn't pay anything for Rich's tiny little cold brew or my not-so-tiny big cold brew. I use the Starbucks app and collect rewards points whenever I do make a purchase, and they eventually expire.

So while you're counting my coins, I'm going to continue to sip my lemon water and love the fact that a free plastic cup can make me feel like the luckiest girl in the world.

Night night, Betty.  Night night.

  1. I think it's perfectly fine -- even though my opinion isn't really worth even the two cents most people's opinions are worth. I think it's a lovely sippy cup and if it makes you happy, go for it with abandon!

  3. Absolutely fine! It's a collection - no less so than my collection of large cross stitch charts and quilting fabric - more than I will ever get through in the remainder of my life.

  5. LOLOLOL. You're not quite as bad as I am! I have sippy cups & sports bottles out the wazoo and am on a first name basis with baristas at the 3 Starbucks closest to me. My favorite store was renovated recently, and has a mostly new staff. Luckily, some of my barista buds are still there. Anyway, after screwing up my (relatively simple) order on Wednesday & Thursday, they handed my order out this morning along with the same cup you have. I thought it was a mistake and tried to give it back. Mark (my special favorite) laughed and said "No, this is a gift from us for being patient with the newbies who messed up your orders." I may have to cash some points in and get one of the other designs!

  11. I say better to use your points for something you enjoy than let them expire. And good to know that Betty is still a grouch even in December.

  13. Some people collect sippy cups, some collect anvils. Whatever floats your boat, as they say. If the cups make you happy and you're not taking the rent and grocery money for them, it's none of our bizzness Betty! OTOH, that was nice of her to do the research on those cups, just in case you ever really really need some stitching funds.
You did pay for the cup a bit at a time every time you made a purchase. So it was already paid for. You'd sort of be throwing money away if you didn't use those points.

  15. Oh, Betty. Bless your heart, as we say down here in the south. Coni, enjoy your beautiful cup! My daughter and granddaughters have quite a collection of them as they are big fans of Starbucks and always have rewards points. (Which is why I love to go there with them-I always get a free treat!)

  17. Ooh that's pretty! I need to get some sippy cups for long journeys as I get dehydrated! The Chilly's bottles need to be unscrewed to drink from - not good when driving! Betty should mind her own business!

  18. Hey, some would spot my lineup of coffee cups, taller-tapped all the way across the 9-foot eating counter, and say who-knows- what. Every one of them means something to me. So there, pfffftt. You enjoy your treats, girl!

  20. I feel sorry for Betty. She is clearly miserable. She might be happier with a sippy cup collection.
