Oey. I was so excited (and yet sad at the same time...how does THAT happen) to approach the finish line of Bargello Egg. There I was, stitching away in the Happy Chair while whistling a happy tune, when it suddenly dawned on me that I stitched the flowers in the wrong color.
Brown.
I stitched brown flowers.
Who DOES that?
So after a hot bath and and a little dietCoke for sustenance, I'm headed back to said Happy Chair armed with the proper YELLOW thread.
Uh........duh.
Hah!! Funny..... and it sounds like something I would do.... but the stitchery is BEAUTIFUL even with brown flowers!!
ReplyDeleteYour posts always make me chuckle.... maybe b/c it's reassuring to know that we all do silly things...
So don't feel too bad, Coni, there's lots of us out there.... :)
I blame the bunny! He probably was sending out brown thread vibes, hoping you would stitch him more bunny friends.
ReplyDeleteLOL! That's totally it ;)
Deleteso pretty!!!
ReplyDeleteOh no! Well, if it makes you feel better, flowers that I would be growing or tending would probably be brown!! Lol! Yes, I'm not very good with plants of the flowering variety! Green plants I seem to be able to avoid killing - but flowers? Forget it! Looking forward to your yellow flowers. The egg and Bargello stitching are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCHOCOLATE FLOWERS!!! Eggscellent!
ReplyDeleteSpring a little slow in coming to your neck of the woods, is it??
I stitched navy blue trunks on trees once. It wasn't until I was stitching the green leaves that I realized something wasn't quite right.
ReplyDeleteLove your bargello egg! Very pretty colors!
What? there are no brown flowers? It looks lovely anyway you stitch it!
ReplyDeleteConi the color really pops. I know we don't grow brown flowers, but the beauty of needlepoint is that it belongs to you and you can do what you want with it! The deep color might be a nice option! Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteConi, it's gorgeous! And it's a FINISH! Brown flowers or not, I think you might be finding your way back! Thank you so much for sharing this because I also do this kind of thing but I usually avoid telling anyone! It's hard sometimes not to "zen out". You just made it okay. What a relief! Luv ya, Sue
ReplyDeleteJust for you, dear sweet Coni, brown flowers. Scroll down to the fourth picture. At the illustrious Longwood Gardens no less. Brown Flowers.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean no brown flowers? My yard is full of them!! I have a brown thumb. :-( I like the idea of chocolate flowers though.

Haha. That gave me a little chuckle, but sounds like something I would totally do. I just started the Pink Egg in Laura J. Perin's Easter Eggs set yesterday!
ReplyDeleteThere are brown flowers out there and not the dead dried up kind either. I have seen a whole garden done and I believe they were called chocolate flowers. I'm sure the yellow will look lovely too. ;)
ReplyDeleteWell right now in Wisconsin everything looks like those flowers! Where the h*** is spring? Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteI actually grow some brown flowers in my chocolate garden. But yes, the yellow will be beautiful. That egg is Wowie Zowie!! Love it.
ReplyDeleteYour egg is very lovely, even if the flowers are the wrong colour
ReplyDeleteI like it, it is a great focal point and appealing.
ReplyDeleteI would blame the bunny. I am sure after you stitched him, you just kept going. Really lovely egg. Now I have the urge to bite the ears off a chocolate bunny.
ReplyDeleteThe egg is so pretty, and lol at brown flowers! I can laugh because I just stitched a whole row of Montenegrin over three in the wrong colour on my sampler. Er.hem. :D
ReplyDeleteIt will be just gorgeous, and at least you made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteDon't do it, Coni! They're chocolate and are appetizer bits before you start nibbling on the chocolate bunny!
ReplyDeleteIn a class with teacher Debbie Forney at an ANG seminar, I was happily stitching a flower with black thread instead of red. Didn't notice it at all until Debbie asked me if I'd meant to do that. LOL
