So I decided that it was time to grab the proverbial bull by the proverbial horns and take a look at my stitching. Or should I say lack thereof?
I only had 18 finishes last year, and the worst part of that sad fact is that the last finish of the year was on October 28th. After that I only played with two projects, and neither of them were remotely Christmas related. What the heck happened?
The good news is that I'm in the Happy Chair, armed with Shepherd's Bush "Come Tarry", and I'm determined to put more than one stitch into it before I call it quits.
I've also been a terrible blogger, a lazy Mommie, and a lousy keeper of the homestead. Sheesh....we're off to a bumpy start.
I am, however, quite determined to turn this leaky little boat around, so stay tuned, kids, and we'll see what kind of adventures we can cook up!
Woo Hoo!
Don't be so hard on yourself Coni. Everybody needs to bail their boat out once in a while! Plug the hole and remember "steady as she goes".
ReplyDeleteGreat comment from Mary Anne. I agree. You'll pick up a needle again if only because Stewey pushes you. :) Hang in there. Cathryn
ReplyDeleteThat's right: don't be so hard on yourself, Coni! Everybody hits a slump now and then...you should have seen THIS PLACE before I had to clean things up for Christmas...what a disaster area...thank Goodness I was hosting Christmas...it forced me to get myself together. And you will too.
ReplyDeleteAs for the blog: don't worry, we're all here waiting --albeit a little impatiently-- to read whatever it is you're going o tell us next.
I just adore your blog, and regardless of what Master Stewie would have us believe...HE DOES TOO...!
We all have our bumps in life where we don't accomplish what we "should". Eighteen finishes - sheesh - I must be a complete loser; I daren't even count my finishes But I enjoyed every one, and the ones that are not yet done - that's what it's all about, isn't it? Please say yes! My excuse is I have 3 Stewies to look after, which I'm sure you can imagine takes the frosting off the cake sometimes when it comes to stitching. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with the previous comments about not been hard on your self.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you look back over the work you have finished in the past 5 years, you should be very proud of the stitchy projects you have completed.
Look on the past few months as rest & recuperation, and a new year is just waiting to unfold.
I think "Come Tarry" by Shepherds Bush is a wonderful choice to start the year with.
It doesn't matter how many finishes you have, all that matters is that you enjoy your stitching time when you can get it. Looking forward to seeing your progess on Come Tarry.
ReplyDeleteMary Anne took the words right out of my mouth! It's as if she was spying into my bird brain! Yikes! Anywho..... Just don't stop writing! It's what gets me through my week! lol

Wow - that's at least 15 more finishes than my 2012 LOL! Glad your fanny is in your chair - that's where I intend to be once showered and laundry is done...Happy 2013 Coni!
ReplyDeleteOnly 18 is slacking? You're kidding, right? Including quilts, I think I had 6 finishes for the entire year. Lighten up!
ReplyDelete18 finishes sounds like a great year to me!
ReplyDelete18 averages to more than one a month. That is nothing to sneeze at, especially with needlepoint projects that tend to be larger and can take longer. One recent year my grand total was 8 and most of those were small!
ReplyDeleteAnd if you got even a couple of those finishes actually framed and hung on the walls, you're years ahead of me.
It sounds like a great stitchy year to me!! You had so many that were very detailed!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, and looking forward to seeing what you decide to stitch in 2013!
We all need a little hiatus now and then, and besides, 18 finishes in 12 months is not too shabby.
ReplyDeleteYou also do something that most of us cannot do; you bring humor and love to our ordinary lives. Keep it up, Coni, and when you "can't come to the blog right now", make sure Stewey is ready to keep us all going!
You go, girl! Your blog posts are always a highlight of my day!
