Doesn't this just SCREAM summer? I'm not sure if it's the hot pink, or hot orange, or hot green, or what, but as soon as I saw this one I knew I had to jump in. I ordered my kit from The Scarlet Thread (http://www.scarletthread.com), and Mr. Teddy His Very Self dispatched things with amazing efficiency. Woo Hoo!
I started playing with this yesterday afternoon, and by the time the dinner dishes were finished clattering around in the washer thingie (*) I had accomplished this much:
Today is another scorcher here in Hoosierville. The back patio is a veritable sauna of epic proportions, and I'm fretting over my poor A/C's ability to continually run without complaint and/or a nice cool beverage for sustenance. I did manage to get all of the bird feeders filled before collapsing into a sweaty heap, but I'm afraid that not too much else will take place outside today.
Back to the Happy Chair!
I hope that wherever you are is exactly where you want to be!
(*) What can I say? I'm a whackadoo when it comes to the dishwasher. I will spend an hour and a half rinsing and washing the dishes BEFORE I put them in the damn thing, and then I'll agonize over the very best placement for proper cleaning efficiency, but when it comes to emptying said damn thing....nope...can't seem to do it in a timely manner whatsoever. I blame this on the fact that I am but one person and that I only run the dishwasher a few times a week when it's full, but who am I trying to kid? I'm without a doubt the laziest person on the whole entire planet.
Indeed, Coni, it does scream summer! Looks like lots of fun. I'm with you in the dishwasher department about the unloading; however, I have been known to put said dishes in without rinsing *gasp*. It's the hubster who always notices residue if all said cleaning is not perfectly performed! EGADS!
ReplyDeleteWell this post was certainly an improvement on the previous day, though your harangue on the dishwasher was somewhat strange! The needlepoint piece is very, very nice and your stitching first class. Keep up the good work. You certainly made a fabulous start, despite the heat!
ReplyDeleteOooh, love the colors. Summer, indeed! Although, I have had enough of summer and am ready for all things Fall, including cooler temps and Fall colors. I will have to find this kit on Scarlet Thread. Love it!
ReplyDeleteCanvas work can be very rewarding - your recent posts have inspired me to have a change from working on linen all the time. I used to do quite a bit of needlepoint and have enjoyed this return to it.
ReplyDeleteVERY summery colors and design - enjoy!
ReplyDeleteVery hot and summery! According to my dishwasher manual, dishes do NOT need to be prerinsed. However, we only run it 2-3 times a week, not daily, so I rinse everything. And you are NOT the laziest person on earth - that title goes to my DH. I bet he can outlast you by a long shot when it comes to unloading the dishwasher thingie.
ReplyDeleteDear Coni: Love, Love your new stitchy piece. Your dishwasher story is indeed funny. Dear Janet there is nothing strange about it. Coni please continue to keep us in stitches. Ha, Ha, stitches, and stitchy stitches also.
ReplyDeletevery hot in my corner of Hoosierville, too ... unfortunately it is also draining my stitching-mojo ... haven't touched anything in some time now :(
ReplyDeletePlease stay cool and maybe Stewey deserves a FrostyPaws in this scorcher.
Great piece--not my colors, doesn't go with anything in my house, but I LOVE it! Am going to try mightily not to order this one right away as I would have to drop everything and stitch it.
ReplyDeleteLove the summer colours you are enjoying - I'm thinking it would brighten the last days of winter here.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy stitchin.
Coni, per usual, you inspire me to explore with color, stitches, designers, etc. every time I stop by.. This new piece screams summer and, oddly enough, summer COCKTAILS, or is that just me? As for the dishwasher, my DH thinks its a challenge to see how many dirty dishes he can cram in the thing before actually having to depress the ON button. I cringe when he says, "I did the dishes!", but, I shouldn't complain.. Overall, he's pretty terrific. I can't wait to see how this new piece of yours progresses!
ReplyDeleteHugs to Stewey and Bosco,
Marnie
P.S. thanks for your comment on my American Eagle the other day! I appreciate you swinging by..
Your needlepoint projects are really looking spiffy Coni - love the bright colors. What do you do with most of these -do they get framed? I only did a bit of needlepoint when I was MUCH younger so I'm curious. Hope you are surviving the heatwave in Hoosierville. I just got in from cooling off in our pool which so far this year has stayed a reasonable temperature. In a month it will be like a warm bath - UGH!
ReplyDeleteOh what fun. Love the bright colors.
ReplyDeleteI love the new project Coni!!! It is also hot here in Bama. A lot of air conditioners are breaking down. I know what you mean about filling those feeders.. I fill my about every other day. I have to fill the bird bath too. My poor feathered friends and bathing and drinking like crazy.
ReplyDeleteShamefacedly - I think I could compete with your lazy title! :( Cathryn
ReplyDeleteI used to rinse everything before putting dishes in the dishwasher.
ReplyDeleteBut I saw an interview with an "expert" who said the soap needs the grime and dirt to grab onto so I bit the bullet and put a glass pan with baked on mac and cheese in and it came out spotless! I don't rinse anything anymore, dried on egg, baking, you name it it goes in untouched.
Try it please. Think of how much more time you will have for stitching, hands dry, manicure not shredded!
Oh its so bright and colourful !!!! Its the perfect summer stitching project !!!

Love the vibrant colors here, looks like it will be a pleasure to work on. Oh, I hear you about the heat, I think the only time I should get a blast of heat in the face this way is taking cookies out of the oven. I'm just saying...
ReplyDeleteKeep cool and enjoy the stitching!
Coni, I know that I have truly made it as a designer now that one of my designs has made it into your stitchy pile, and I do mean that with the upmost sincerity! I was over the moon this morning when I saw this post! What a great start you are off to, I so look forward to following your progress on this. This design began as a painted canvas and my friend Susan Allanson stitched it and wrote the stitch guide. My distributor, Ruth Schmuff, came up with the idea to take that stitch guide and rework it so that it could become a counted canvas pattern. With a new color scheme designed by me, Ruth sent it to Kathy Holicky to get charted and stitched. (And what a thrill that was for me because Kathy was one of my idols back when I first started stitching, I have stitched a ton of her designs!) Hope you like knowing a little of the back story to this design, and I hope you will enjoy stitching it-- I certainly do look forward to seeing it again (and again & so on...) ;) Ada
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you, dear Miss Ada Your Very Self! I can't believe that you read this here blog and that you were kind enough to share the story of the piece! I love that! Thank you!
DeleteI think the heat has made us all a bunch of lazy bones! Whenever I see orange and purple together all I can think of is Halloween- which will be here before you know it hopefully bringing some nice cooler days!
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE those colors and textures! Nothing in those colors goes with anything in my house but they look like so much SUMMER fun!
ReplyDeleteOh rats. Anther project to add to my to find and get pile.
