EUREKA! FINALLY! A SPINSTER STITCHER MANIFESTO!

I must confess that this time of year always throws me into a philosophical fizzy tit with respects to New Year's resolutions and advance planning. And, to make matters even worse, it would appear that YOU all have your collective acts together and not only WRITE to do lists for the New Year, you actually DO the stuff on the lists. So this makes me feel completely inadequate and just forces me to write my own list, but alas, I never seem to get around to actually doing anything on it.

So this year I was thinking about all of this as I wrapped Aunt Chrissy's gifts (and little Bosco's too) and I think I have FINALLY come up with some New Year's resolutions that I might actually be able to a)live with, and b)accomplish!

I, Coni J. Rich, The Spinster Stitcher Her Very Self, do resolve to do the following in 2011:

Be happy
Laugh at something really funny
Read a book
Stitch something wonderful
Bake a cake
Sit up straight
Fondle threads
Splash in a puddle
Doodle
Listen to a song and sing along
Take a walk
Eat a salad
Smile
Floss
Cook an Ina recipe
Wear pajamas all day
Take a nap with my face in the sun
Buy a coloring book
Color
Pet the dog
Eat some chocolate
Say something nice to a stranger
Find a penny, pick it up
Watch a movie
Throw a snowball
Buy a bra that fits
Blow a bubble
Have a cup of coffee
Email a friend
Wash some underpants
Break a habit
Snuggle with Stewey
Read a trashy magazine in the tub
Pluck an errant eyebrow or two
Wish upon a star
Go to bed at 8:30
Tell a secret
Keep a secret
Make a child laugh
Chase a rainbow
Sweep a floor
Paint my toenails red
Go on a picnic
Pick a tomato
Tell a story
Smell a flower
Say a little prayer
Go bowling

How's THAT for a list? This is just a small start, mind you, but I wanted you to know that I am at least thinking about it and hope to get it finished up in time to watch the ball drop. Now if I can just resist the urge to organize and categorize and agonize and philosophise this list, we might be on to something...

What are your resolutions?

  1. I love lists ;-). Yours is wonderful!!!! I want to do all those things too, LOL. I've also added a few lists to my stitching blog the past couple days, LOL.

I want to be kind and loving to family and friends which means I need to guard against my natural tendency to impatient and occasionally snippy. I want to enjoy my stitching and not feel guilty if all my lists and goals don't happen. And exercise every so often, if I manage those I am good :-).

  2. The top of your list is like mine-be happy. LOL at buy a bra that fits and wash some underpants! We can tackle anything with a bra that fits and clean underpants! Two resolution for me would be not letting stress get to me and exercise more!

  3. If I follow your list, I may be able to meet my primary goal for the next year: stop worrying about what might never happen! My daughter's term is 'awfulizing'.
Will the world come to an end if I stop 'awfulizing'? I doubt it. And I might even be more contented and serene for it....

Blessings, Coni, for helping us keep life in perspective.

  4. Conni, your list makes me SO happy! Thank you for inspiring me! Will Stewey make a list? LOVE to see his, too.

  5. Love your list. If we did these things we would all be happier.

  6. The only thing on my New Year's list is:

    Don't make a New Year's list.

Every single year inwhich I have had that list has been a successful list-keeping year.

  7. I was going along on your list and then hit a speed bump . . . wash underwear . . really . . who would have 'thunk' that?

Now, it's question time . . what do you use to make your slide shows? I've tried the blogger gadget and it doesn't work for me. I love the way you have your projects organized by year and I want to flatter you by copying your idea.

    Hope you will be flattered <:0}

  8. UM...somehow I sort of remember starting 11 project in the first 11 days of 2011. What happened!? And did you really say BOWLING?!
Have a fabulous Christmas. I'll think of you as I kit my 11 new projects! FTLOG!

  9. Oh, good, are you guys sticking with the 11 projects instead of 15? 'Cause I might be able to actually do that one, and then I won't feel guilty for not doing 15!

Love you list, Coni. Some of the items are so sweet. I bounced through a little puddle a few months ago and had an attack of giggles at the same time -- I thought my sister was going to have me committed. Keep us posted as you cross them off!

  10. Oh I love your list! Sounds like a wonderful list of things to vow to do. Do you need me to send you a bottle of bubbles?

  11. As Mips said, my resolution is no resolutions. I just forget them anyway so there is no point. I do like your list though.

  12. Buy a bra that fits!! LOL OMG that is great. Well good luck with that one. Even after I find one that I think fits and then becomes my favorite, the next time I want to buy the same bra, they don't make it anymore. GRRR. Nice List.

  13. I think I'll stop at #1 - Be Happy!

That is my wish for you, for me, and for the world!

  15. You had me right up there till you had to throw in that silly "sit up straight". Bummer. Lol. Other than that, I'm right there with you, sister. (oh, and that buy a bra that fits thing...not sure I'm up for the girls being tape-measured)...I'm always afraid the tape-measure will slip southward to the hips and there just ain't enough of that yellow stuff to go around "that" area. :( Love all the coloring, pajama-wearing, chocolate-eating, dog petting mojo you got going on!!! :)

  16. This is a great list. Some things we should all remember to do with a sprinkle of the things we all need to do but don't. The bra thing..I wanna do that one too.

  17. My list is similar except it involves walking two border collies once a day and to get others to read my blog... mine isn't nearly as amusing as yours but if you ever want to look...http://jill-aufostitcherstale.blogspot.com/

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  18. Oh, Coni, thank goodness you didn't mention "dusting!" I shall sweep a floor, but never "dust!" It's my antique furniture's layer of protection, ya' know? I think I shall take your list, and check it twice!

  20. Deborah says:

What can I say? I love the list.

I'm all set on the bra thing, but bowling...now that's a challenge!

I think I'll make my own list now.

I suppose "Get my own Google account and stop using my husband's already!" should be first on the list. (Have you noticed the photo is of a bearded man with a broken leg reclining in a bathtub?)

Merry Christmas to you and Stewey, Aunt Chrissy and Bosco!

  21. This is a wonderful list.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you, Aunt Chrissy, Stewey and Little Bosco.

  22. Love you list! Good idea to set yourself up for success instead of failure. Maybe I'll try a successful resolution list!

  23. I think I can do them all except cuddle with Stewey. Great list!

  24. I like yours so much I think it will also be mine... well, maybe with the exception of bowling. Not that it's no fun, but there's never anyone who wants to go! Also, tell us where you find that bra!!

  25. I love the list Coni! The best thing is that you have a chance of actually achieving these things... unlike the list I usually come up with. I think I will emulate you instead.

  26. You have the best resolutions, Coni! I wish you all the best that you'll be able to stick to this list - and possibly add a few fun things like watching a kids' movie or ogling a hot actor that big @ss TeeVee!

  29. I would add, overtip a waitress. It very seldom happens, usually the other way, and you would be amazed at what it can do for that server's day.
