OWW OWW OWW

OK...so maybe that wasn't such a hot idea.  Yesterday was swell, in that I got an awful lot of stuff done, but today?  Today I feel like a bus hit me, backed up and over me, and then hit me again.

I know, I know...MOD-ER-A-TION...but in the almost ten years that you've known me when have I ever understood that particular concept?

So today will be a recovery day.  Rich has already suggested that I make the brisket tomorrow and we'll just have leftovers today.

I could kiss him right on the face for that one.

Dinner was a smashing success, and the cheese dip better that I remembered it.  I wish I could take credit for creating it, but that honor must go to Miss Trisha Yearwood Her Very Self:

Charleston Cheese Dip
* 1/2 cup mayonnaise

* One 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened

* 1 cup grated sharp Cheddar cheese

* 1/2 cup grated Monterey Jack cheese

* 2 green onions, finely chopped

* 1 dash cayenne pepper

Preheat oven to 350.  Combine the above ingredients in a shallow dish and heat in oven for 15-30 minutes or until bubbly.
*  8 butter crackers, crushed, such as Ritz

Add crackers to top and brown...another three or four minutes.
* 8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

Add bacon on top of the crackers and heat for just a minute or two.
Serve with chips, crackers, pretzels...anything that will hold up to a hearty dip. (I like Fritos scoops).

I'm going to do laundry and stitch all day.  At least I hope so.  If I make any good progress I'll have pics for you tomorrow!  Happy Sunday, Dearies!  Hope the sun is shining and the birds are tweeting sweetly wherever you are!

  1. We escaped the snow. Forty miles to the south (!) they have ten inches of the stuff. Sunday was intended as a day of rest, they say, so you are spending your day appropriately. Brisket is as good on Monday as it is on Sunday!

    effort 100%...Annie's right .... take a good Sabbath rest
    and renew for tomorrow when brisket will taste just as good....

  4. I have chronic fatigue, and I forget I'm not Supergirl on days when I feel good. Like you, I feel like a truck hit me the next day because I overdid it. At least you can stitch! All I usually manage is whining & sleeping. LOL

  5. Coni dear time to chill too much work is not healthy. But the cheesy dip sounds yummy. I copied it down so I can make it lol. In all my years cooking I've never made a brisket hope yours tastes scrumptious.
    On friday I had the bright idea to spring clean my sewing room taking almost everything out & putting it the living room. I'm almost done putting it all back but have run out of steam so 1 box & the table top will have to wait. I just can't do anymore today. I tend to overdo when I have a spark of energy & usually sufer the consequences for 2-3 days after wards.
    I should know better by now (I'll be 60 in August) but it always seems like a good idea at first.
    My knee replacement surgery is scheduled for April 10 I'm looking forward to alittla less pain & greater mobility.
    Blessings

  6. I made that recipe this morning, too! But I didn't get any stitching done (yet); I did some electrical work around the house. But after dinner, I'm all about the thread.

  7. Coni,

    I feel your PAIN ! Did the same marathon cleaning that you did the other day. It was a WONDERFUL high. Fixed a little snack for the company coming THEN the day after our get-together I sat a "licked" my sore muscles and stitched all day and was a computer GEEK. Not as young as I used to be, but my pain seems to lessen when I see my spotless clean house. Today is another stitchy day ~ a gift for a friend. MODERATION is the word. Happiness, Jo Ann

  8. Coni, you may feel like you have been pulled through a knot-hole backwards but you landed in a clean house! Well done, eat, stitch, and rest today!
