BACK TO SQUARE ONE

I managed to remove all of the incorrect stitches last night while watching a documentary on The Notorious Biggie Smalls.

(Can I just state once and for all and for the record in perpetuity that I am, without doubt, the UNhipest spinster on the planet?)

There are entire worlds of culture that are completely forgeign to me because I have somehow managed to remain a Barry Manilow girl in a Tupak Shakur world.  Entire generations have passed me by without a second thought as to the signifigance of their likes and dislikes...hopes and dreams...achievements and failures.

In short...I have become one of the old man Muppets in the balcony of the theater griping about kids these days and their crazy shows.

And so we return to the land of Make Believe, or what I like to call the happy quiet life of a happy quiet spinster.

(Who still, by the way, loves her some Barry Manilow.)

I'll smoosh the linen back into place later, but here is the piece as it stands today:

Off to appointments and then the grocery today.  I didn't go yesterday because I just didn't feel up to it, but the fridge is looking rather bare so it's time to pull my socks up and go.

Happy Thursday, Dearies.  Do something fun and come tell me all about it!

  1. Well Coni, you aren't alone in that area. Hope your appointments go well and the trip to the grocery goes smoothly. Have a good day!

  2. The old saying "if you want to make God laugh - make a plan" seems to be so true. Everytime I think I have my day planned out I can't seem to get any of it done. So I get in a place for a few days and just get up shower and then go to my office and see what I can accomplish then I don't feel so defeated at the end of the day! Have a good one everybody!

  4. Fun? Well if you call laundry and dishes fun..... blech! You made quite a bit of progress considering you had to rip out first before you can stitch. Hope all goes well for you today. Love, hugs & prayers, Cathryn ♥

  5. That took guts and patience, but you defeated error....Now
to start afresh. Those who have tasted of good taste are mourning the loss of discernment with you, dear heart.
It is a different world out there in rapid time. The viables are out there...just not being highlighted. Get
that fridge stocked so you can energize for stitching...

  6. That frogging took patience, which I don`t seem to have lately...I do feel acomplished today though, I have fixed my baffling problems with staying signed in to Blogger. I have not been able to post or comment for quite some time...
I agree with you about feeling 'behind the times'...in this world it seems to be all flash and smoke, no substance. If I want to listen to music I go back a couple of decades. Maybe I am getting old...(holds her breath as she hits the publish button)

  7. There are still some words which don't translate from Australian English to USA English....like smalls (is it just an Aussie thing to call under garments smalls?) So you were one ahead of me on the Biggie Smalls! lol

  8. I love seeing your perfect little stitches up close! And I am sorry that I laughed out loud at the thought of you watching a Notorious B.I.G documentary. I was laughing with you :)

  9. Um, who is Biggie Smalls and why is he/she or another appropriate pronoun notorious? Sure, I could Google it, because I live partially in the present, while yearning for the good old days when men were men and women were ladies in public.

Last night was quite productive, with a 50 day supply of Bellabear food, consisting of roasted boneless, skinless hand chopped chicken thighs, portioned, packaged and in the freezer. He also gets a canned prescription diet. They are fed in combination, and the results are gorgeous.
Today was meh. I took a shower and washed my hair, changed linens, but mostly I cuddled the cat. And spent a whole lot of time trying to get my freaking stubborn loved ones (dear friends - I love them all, most of them tolerate me) who live in coastal areas of south Florida to evacuate. I have brick walls, my forehead is bleeding. For quite a few days I have been trying to find a taker for my guest room. I can only conclude that my reputation precedes me, and other friends have told them that staying here is worse than a Cat 5 hurricane, because I will dote on them and serve breakfast in bed, and I put good chocolates in the guest room. Then at night I will expect them to drink wine, engage in polite conversation and perhaps play parlour games like Cards Against Humanity, which has been known to make people laugh until they cry. Tonight will be spent fretting about the hurricane.

Tomorrow is farmer's market morning. Hope your Friday is awesome. Keep working on the carbs, excited to see it come to life.

    Prayers continue...

  10. Well Coni, I'm your exact age and I collected all of the Barry Manilow albums when I was 11 and he was my first concert. I still have a few songs on my phone (Weekend in New England, Looks Like We Made It, Mandy) and am lucky to occasionally listen to one as my sons sulk in absolute disgust. I will be going to see Father John Misty soon though, does that absolve me? Nope, because I am dragged into the current day by my son. Otherwise, I would just stitch and listen to my early music (heavenly for stitching)....

  11. So, you know there is a Biggie Smalls canvas, right? I think it's Tess and Thorn. It is sooooo on my wish list...

  12. I'm so sorry you had to rip that all out. I haaate ripping out. It seems to take longer than stitching.
I'm here in sunny FL prepping for Hurricane Irma. Please pray for FL!

  13. The picture from this post has encouraged me greatly. Today I ripped out the first five hours of stitching on His Eye is on the Sparrow. All the stitches. Why? Yep, linen too small for height. I've ordered the correct size from The Attic, but until then . . . smalls it is. 🙄
