WHY STAY ON THE COUCH WHEN YOU CAN HAVE A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN INSTEAD?

It's unpacked, but it's my worst nightmare.  Everything is hither and yon and I don't have any matchy matchy baskets or bins because I promised myself that I would wait until I was sure of what I would need.
At this point, what I think I need is a frontal lobotomy.
Or a bulldozer.
Or heavy sedatives.
OK.  Officially done for the day.  I haven't heard back from the doc yet to know if I will need to go see her, but I suspect that tomorrow will be spent at the South Bend Clinic getting poked, prodded, and CT scanned.

Oey.

But on a happier note, tomorrow is our trip to the House of Stitches and I already know what my treat is going to be!  Last time we were there I saw a framed finish of Red Velvet Cake by Glendon Place and fell head over heels for it:
Miss Linda kitted it all up for me and it's been ready and waiting for me to get my head out of my heiney with this move and go over and get it.

Tomorrow's the day!!

Off to the Happy Chair...don't know if I will stitch tonight or not, but at least I can now say that the Spinster Stitcher Studio is back in business!

  1. Well, look at YOU! Just when we thought we weren't going to hear a peep from you today, you turn around and practically have the studio all done and organized! It's just getting those blankety-blank boxes emptied and tossed...makes you feel like a weight is lifted.

I do hope you feel better soon. You've got more than your share to deal with and I wish I could help; we all do. Pace yourself. And feel the love. <3 <3 Mindy

  3. Oh my! The stitch stuff is stacked so high dear. How will you reach it? You have more strength than I do to put together all those cubes! With your kind of determination, you should have no trouble feeling better soon. God bless you!

  4. I would have had a nervous breakdown waaay before now! Packing and unpacking, putting together those storage cubes, umpteen trips to Target....I hope your House of Stitches outing is a wonderful combination of energizing and soothing. And that this flare up is gone soon. Also just wanted to say the lazy Susan in the bathroom closet is genius - why didn't I ever think of that!

  6. Coni dear your stitching room is beautifully organized I wish my sewing room was. After your all done with EVERYTHING would you come & help me get organized. Please. I think I've pulled a thread somehow & I'm unraveling...
I haven't had more than 3 hrs sleep a night in wks with all the rain we've been having & are promised for the next 3 days my back & joints have me flat on the UN-comfy couch with the heating pad. Maybe we can get a two for deal for the lobotomy.
Soon you'll have it all in tip top shape.
Your in my thoughts and prayers
    Blessings

  7. Don't worry about it, Coni. Think of it as writing an essay. Sometimes, you just need to write out all of your thoughts as they come to you, then go back and put them in a sensible order later. Same with your stash. You've gotten it unpacked. You can rearrange it later. Take a rest and feel better!

  9. It IS time to stitch and rest and watch the TEE VEE and take care of yourself! I know when things are not tidy and orderly it is bothersome, but Miss Coni! You have to take care of yourself! PLEASE! Time to spoil yourself with that lovely kitted stitching piece, good healthy foods and proper care as prescribed. Sending such heartfelt prayers Miss Coni. Love and hugs, Cathryn ♥

  13. Wow, Coni! Now, put yourself in the Happy Chair with your lemon water and watch some TeeVee. You need to be ready to head to House of Stitches and collect your project.

  14. You did an awesome job getting all that stuff put away. I think it looks good. You have the cubbies filled with those plastic bins that look like you already have them labeled. Easy too know what is in them. Step away from it and go back. Have a great time at the needlework shop!

  15. It looks great! I'm sure you will shift things about but for now just let it percolate in your subconscious.

  16. Wait a second -- possibly getting poked, prodded, scanned and probably needled at the clinic AND a trip to House of Stitches?? Hope you don't need the first and the second goes well!

  19. I too am awed at the beauty of your studio organization. I know you will love stitching the Red Velvet Cake, I personally wouldn't mind a piece of red velvet cake. Take care

  20. Just take it slowly Coni. Just think, ae you are organizing your stash you have the perfect opportunity to fondle it!! Spend some time connecting with things you have forgotten you had. No one is going to march in there and get all judge-y with you.
As for nervous breakdowns, moving is right up there with divorce as for being stressful...be kind to yourself, have a cry now and then, and throw pillows at the walls when frustration sets in. Husband #2 and I just moved and downsized last year...I am still arranging things and opening boxes. My nerves are frazzled still from the move. The cats have not forgiven us for moving either...it takes a long time to settle in and get comfy. Take lots of stitchy breaks and naps. xxoo
PS, that reminds me, we moved in with only our cats, suitcases and an air matress at first. When the cable guy came to install the internet, I was sitting on pillows propped in the corner on the floor stitching. I got a strange look from him, but I didn`t care at that point. It was either stitch or go mad!!

  21. I discovered your blog a couple of months ago and have enjoyed hearing about your life ever since. I have to admit - I started laughing that what you call your "worst nightmare" would be my dream! It looks so beautifully organized. I downsized dramatically more than a year ago and I'm still trying to stuff 10 pounds of junk in a 5-pound bag.

Enjoy a day (or two!) of stitching.
