SUNDAY SPINSTER SEMI BLISS

I can't have full bliss because...well, you know...but that doesn't mean that I can't have a little semi bliss on a chilly Sunday morning, right?
This is my first Christmas present to myself this year.  I am so excited about it that I did a little prancy dance out there in the driveway in front of God and everybody when I realized that the new delivery guy didn't forget me today...he just delivered to the wrong mailbox.

(At least I hope that was the case....otherwise, I've swiped my neighbor's newspaper!)

I wish I could tell you how darn happy this stupid paper makes me.  It's like a big fat box of chocolates that I get to open and savor...piece by piece...section by section...all week long.  Oh, what joy!

Now before you tell me that I could have been reading the paper on my iPad thingie, let me just state once and for all that I am a purist and simply must have the feel of ink on paper in my hand with my damn good cup of coffee or the whole experience just flops.

So that's my day today.  Coffee, the Sunday papers, the fireplace set to toasty, and then some beading on dear Vaceila.  She's almost ready for her halo and headpiece:

If all goes according to plan I will finish her up and get started on a Guild assignment that needs my urgent attention.  We are piloting a class and have to have it completed soon, and I have yet to start the darn thing!  Given my propensity for seeking acceptance and approval constantly, I'd better get crackin' or I'm going to have to go sit in the corner...ashamed and alone to contemplate my failure.

Oey...

But first, the paper!   And coffee!

Here's hoping that your Sunday is as blissful as it can possibly be.  Do something that makes your heart sing and your skirt blow up and come tell me all about it!

  4. Coni, I love the Times! And I agree about the classic paper newspaper. It's so tough for papers now because no one wants to pay for the news - they expect it to be free. Every subscription to a paper with paid reporters is so important.

    Vaceila glows.

  8. it is my personal opinion after living outside of NYC for 20 years, that One should only Page 6 while peering upon paper...it's not the same online...might as well read TMZ.com or Radaronline...am I right?

  9. Good Blissful Sunday to you Coni. I agree about having the actual paper in hand. It is something that so many younger people will find the novelty in it years from now. That is, if there is any paper with news on it! I certainly hope so. Your Sunday sounds wonderful. We bought our Christmas tree in town today instead of yesterday and paid premium top dollar for said tree. Yesterday was sunny, somewhat warm and shoulda woulda coulda (bought the tree) but didn't do it. Woke this morning to a dusting of snow. That-would-not-stop-al-day. Roads were slippery and I was not about to put ourselves on country roads with so much snow coming down. So ate at the local cafe, bought some chili fixings at the grocers for supper and bought our pricey tree. Will be decorating it tomorrow as it was covered in snow and will need to thaw a bit. I have the whole week off and will stitch, watch Christmas movies (White Christmas is my favorite) and listen to Christmas music while family is working. Your Vaceila is gorgeous. I bet it weighs a little bit also. How are you planning to finish? It is so pretty and you are a wonderful stitcher. Enjoy your paper and your week. Cindy in northern Illinois

  15. There's nothing quite the same as that real paper newspaper in the morning. Of course, I also prefer real books. Guess I'm just a dinosaur!

  16. That beading is beautiful and I am so envious of your patience to do it. I can only do a few beads and then "I'm done!" with it. Am looking forward to seeing your Guild project.

  18. Vaceila is magnificent! What a tour-de-force. Since leaving Manhattan, there is nothing like the Times to maintain the mojo...twas a city like no other. Your Sunday
scheme befits your mood and toasty is what it is all about.

  19. I feel the same way about the paper. There's nothing like holding it and flipping pages to follow the story. Sunday's usually find me out for a bite to eat and I love taking the crossword with me. I sit too long working on it... it was a relaxing thing to do before prepping for the week. Enjoy!
    Vaciela is beautiful.
